Honestly have to say, as a great open world adventure game, its a pretty solid experience and I'm not a Potter fan at all. I'm just a fan of open world games, and this hit its mark.

My main gripe with the game is that the writing was a lil bland. None of the characters really grew on me over the course of the game, and I just felt like everyone's errand boy and that the world felt like it revolved around me as if nothing was happening until my character arrived out of nowhere to save the day. So a lot of busy work you do over the course of the game as far as narrative goes fell kinda flat.
Another gripe would be with the magical nature of the world aesthetically would be the "disney-fication" of the world. Granted the dev team was doing work for Disney prior to this game, but the magic in the Potterverse was.......a lil less...... dance-y? lol I watched a couple of Potter films and I've never seen much in the way of dancing brooms or mops or instruments playing themselves...etc. I just personally found it a lil tone deaf, and breaked the immersion for me when I just got through, pretty much blantly murdering a dark wizard outside of Hogsmeade only to go into town and everything is just happy and dancing music is light and marchy.

I should preface this with that I mean this is what bothers me on the ground, as when I'm flying around the world is absolutely beautiful and couple that with the flying around it feels SOOOO good. The broom has NO RIGHT to be that fun to zip around on. It made me really want to have quiditch to be playable in the game. Or maybe that would be a good game to do as a standalone sports game where you go for the world cup....that could be interesting.

The beast breeding was not something I did a lot of when I first unlocked it, but it was nice to do after I rolled back on the "pokemon" approach and just trying to take everything I could. I enjoyed the exploration and lore so much that I wanted to uncover more secrets passages or dungeons as time went on, as it gave me indiana jones/tomb raider vibes. Ruin exploration was definitely a highlight, just sad there wasn't more of it.

All in all, its a solid enjoyable experience that I'll play through again sometime, definitely recommend.
