I've played Runescape since 2005, and really enjoyed the release of OSRS, but I cannot recommend this game. For years Jagex management has decided to almost entirely ignore customer support and game integrity in favor of game content.

If you have any account issues there is no viable method to contact customer support. In fact, it's a generally accepted fact at this point that only popular streamers get support because they have direct communication to the developers. There is no phone number and using twitter or email will result in automated responses.

In terms of game integrity there is a duel arena where in-game gold worth hundreds of thousands in USD equivalents is gambled daily. This is done without any age-verification and no gold limit. There are countless stories of young children developing gambling addictions, or getting scammed at the duel arena. For years the player base has voiced concerns about this, to be completely and suspiciously ignored. The large amount of bots and do-nothing attitude versus gold-buyers speaks for itself.

Game play wise it's a great MMORPG, but severely lacks in the peripheral support that a MMORPG requires. I cannot recommend a game where players lose access to accounts they spent countless hours building without satisfactory support.

Edit: some of your comments are pretty disappointing. "customer support isnt the greatest but it is what it is," "Just don't go to the duel arena," why don't we hold the management accountable for basic things that any other mainstream MMORPG has? Just because the in-game content is enjoyable does not mean we shouldn't criticize Jagex's ignorance to other components.
