Phenomenal game. I have more hours than listed as I've been playing on my Steam Deck offline (and doesnt seem to track those hours). Fields of Mistria is the perfect cross between Stardew Valley and Harvest Moon. The sound design, graphics, world, and characters are all super charming. Something that not a lot of games do, and one of my favorite things about Fields of Mistria is the dialogue iterates on itself.

You know how a lot of the time the dialogue that characters say when you walk up to them repeats because it pulls from a handful of prewritten messages? Well that is not the case here. Its most noticeable during the weekly gatherings at the tavern, there are groups of people playing D&D, or the kids are planning a 'heist' and the story actually progresses each week you go! Its awesome, and really encourages you to check out the weekly events. Even your day-to-day is made rewarding using the magic/xp system as everything you do counts as some XP you can use later to buy lil perks.

Absolutely buy this game. You can feel the years of hard work invested

F*ck Ubisoft, purchased this years ago and their virus they call a launcher won't let me open it.

Go play tabletop simulator or get a pack of real UNO cards.

This game is the shining example of what all Remasters and Remakes should be like. The efforts that old members of Westwood went through, as well as community efforts to make this remake the most authentic experience possible were astronomical. All game devs should aspire to this same level effort for their games, and when playing you can feel the love poured into this project. This remake was out of passion, not money, and you can feel it. If you're new to RTS and want a modern platform to learn the history of this genre, buy this immediately. If you have 40 mins to spare, Noclip made an incredible documentary https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7MUDQYWk6qY, definitely worth a watch if you are a fan of this game series like myself, and if you're curious about what extreme efforts people went through.

I sadly cannot recommend the game in its current state. Its a fantastic game, and everything in the open world was tested and works nearly flawlessly, however the litany of bugs in this game show that it was not Q.A. tested thoroughly, or that their team only tested for bugs in a vacuum.

The issues or bugs I (or my friends) have encountered so far in order of annoyance:
1) I cannot complete the main story quest "The Raid" because I climbed the Birch Windmill before the quest became available and Sophie is stuck in a pile of boxes. Its the fourth(?) story quest and is a pivotal branch to the plot of the game.

2) Death loops - This happened to my friend and he got stuck outside of a mission zone, and kept getting reset to the same spot, to be endlessly reset every 5 seconds.

3) Overlays breaking. Don't get me wrong, this game is much more alt-tab friendly than the first Dying Light (in my experience) but after an hour or two of play time, the game becomes much less alt tab friendly. This manifests into crashing steam as well, meaning you cant shift-tab and have to (sometimes) hard reset steam via the task manager.

4) Multiplayer sometimes breaks. There is a bug where you will get hard kicked from the hosts game very suddenly, and there is no fix other than the host restarting their game. I don't know what causes this.

5) FPS lag in (one) quarantine zone. I cannot remember the name of the zone but it is in the second part of the story. After entering, lockpicks are hard to complete because it becomes very jittery, looting becomes buggy, and it will continue even after you've exited the zone. This was only fixed by everyone restarting their game.

Honestly, once these issues are fixed, I would say this game is great. Because the game is honestly fantastic. I don't regret dropping a full $60 on this game whatsoever. There are noticeable improvements from the first game, and I enjoy how dropkick is so much more powerful. The devs deserve praise for all they've done right, but unfortunately I don't get to progress in the story without spending at minimum another 4 hours getting to the point of the story where I was at before and another 20 to get the same character level progress. They did a fantastic job on the first game, I love how they kept up with constant updates and patches to the base game and you can tell they loved making both this game and the first one. I am looking forward to seeing how much more they add to this game as time goes by, I know it'll be great.

My theory is that they tested all of the variables in this game separately from one another, like the quests from the windmills being complete, because bugs like these would stand out immediately to anyone like me who is an avid completionist. Overall, the game is a 9/10, but because of these glaring issues I cannot recommend you buy this game at launch.

I love this game. Plain and simple. It isnt overly complex, and is relatively easy to master. This game is one of my favorite (if not my favorite game of all time). I get that there are bugs, but its early access. Keen Software House is trying there hardest to try to update the game as much as they can. They add new stuff and fix older bugs almost weekly. It has come a long way since its origins from alpha, and is so much fun. Thanks Keen!
