Early Access Review
Quick Warning beforehand, this review is written for the v0.1.1 initial release and it is already known that many things will be improved and/or expanded upon, still i want to give an honest opinion for this game.

Lets begin with whats stayed the same, you are still in the World of Slime Rancher (though on a new Island), you still collect Slimes, build up your Ranch and Upgrade your Vac-Pack, Boots and JetPack. So the Core stayed the same.

Slimes are an intresting Topic, since they´re the meat of the game here. While this is the Early Access-release i was supprized that we had less Slimes then in Slimerancher 1 and "only" 5 of them were new. The Devs will surely add more but it was a supprize nontheless. Also intresting was wich Slimes were choosen to return, we still got the 4 basic buddys: Pink, Tabby, Phosphor and Rock Slimes, with a new one added Cotton Slimes, though i have to mention that in my oppinion Rock Slimes have dropped in numbers since the first game. I was also supprized to see that many old slimes have dissappeared, i do realy hope that they´ll come back further done the line of updates (espeacily Dervish Slimes, they´re my Favorites with Honey). Something i personally also have a little Grudge against is, how many "Cat-like" Slimes we got, Tabby, Hunter and Lucky all made another apprearence but they now also added Ringtail Slimes, wich aren´t directly Cat Slimes, but they look very much alike.
Gordos are once again Gatekeepers while in SR1 they held Keys to unlock new areas, they now block Paths, Teleports, etc.

The Ranch has changed a bit though, visualy at least. It changed into a giant Greenhouse, with a few Plots to play around with. You now have Slime Sience unlocked from the get go, it is located inside your basement. The Upgrade areas are mostly the same, you have a ruinic area, a Cave, a more wildy area with Chickens and a Sea side area with Pools for your Puddle Slimes, this time we even got 2!! Though i fear this will get crowded once we get more Slimes.
Sadly we cant personalize our Ranch at this point in time, 7Zee still hasnt found our new location, so we just have to wait ^^

Slime Sience has been Updated since SR1 too, while back in SR1 you placed Drills, Apiarys and Pumps to get your materials, you will unlock an upgrade where YOU gather the requierd recources. Thell spawn as material nodes around the map and can be gathered once youve gotten the upgrade for your Vac-Pack, but i do hope that some form of automation will be added later on.
2 things that arent realy a problem but i think could be improved upon are, 1. in order to get further into the game you need the Jetpack, just in SR1, but now you also need materials for it, slowing you down a bit (farming once you have it, is way easier, but getting to that point was like having to stop in your tracks). 2. Upgrades for the Vac-Pack start with 1 blue dot and get more, the more you upgrade it. For some things this makes sense like the Heart or Stamina Upgrades where you already have a "base version" of it. But then you also have Dots for Extra Tanks and Tank Gaurds, where you dont have a "base version" wich i find irritating.

The new Map areas are designed intrestingly and have a lot to uncover, many things are hidden or blocked of creating a sense of Discovery-Thirst, wanting to know where the tunnel leads or what is behind this closed door. I also feld like, food was more spread around the area making it intrsting to look out for and not always directly into your face.

Last but not least i wanna talk about the Story and NPC´s, from what ive seen so far the overall Story and interaction with the NPC´s are amazing! Id only wish that there would be like a new Page in the Slimepedia where one could see all past Interactions and Dialogs.
One thing that is sad though is that you arent doing missions for your friends back home, you basicly "only" talk to them. Id wish they would bring something similar back.

At this Point Slime Rancher 2 feels like a DLC for the Original, but i am sure with a bit of time it will turn into the sequal we´ve all been waiting for, with theese closing words i hope you have a fun time, collecting, breeding, getting rich or whatever your goal is in the new game.
Have fun on Rainbow Island ^^

P.S. yay they brought the Honey back :D
