I have to keep in mind that this game is close to 20 years old now. Still... there are some shortcomings in this game compared to the original Deus Ex. (Which I haven't completed yet mind you, but gotten quite far in)
The atmosphere is not pulling me in, and the world-building as well.
Granted, I have half-recently played the newer Deus Ex games which was expertly done in my thinking. So I am biased.
The maps are also very small. It feels as if I'm playing an early xbox game (and again, I have to keep reminding myself that it IS an early game). I think however that the first Deus Ex did things better.
I was never captured by the story and just breezed through everything. Granted, I was playing on easy but I just wanted to be done with this game, especially considering since it's remained untouched in my library for x amount of years now. Not for lack of trying though....
It haven't worked on steam for me since I bought it, I just recently found out that it was the "steam in-game overlay" that was the problem. After I disabled it everything worked fine.
The skill system is different than from the first game as well, everything just feels ....less.

I did like the gunflares from enemies shooting, that was beautifully done.
The trade collective called Omar was a nice touch as well, I liked the concept of them.

All in all, I don't think this game brought much to the table. This applies to every aspect of the game actually. Play it if you need to have played every game in the Deus Ex series and if not you are better just reading about the game on the internet. And save you some time.

I guess a final thing...I bought it at a sale really cheap, and for a cheap game that gives me 12 hours of playtime I guess that is quite alright. But really, you can spend those hours much more wisely :)

Have an awesome time, whatever you chose to spend it on.

I played this during the free haloween-weekend. And darn, I was instantly hooked!
From being on my "nah, i'll get around to play it someday" this has instantly moved up on my next title to get priority list. It might help a bit that I am from the Sweden myself. So even though this game happens a decade before my birth I still recognize everything. All the small details like groceries, newspapers, cars and clothes. It also helps the immersion that you can change the spoken language to Swedish in the settings.
This is awesome :) and the tension is palpable! The music and the top-notch sound effects really helps with that.

The thought of entering a powered down bunker where darnkess is your only friend....and then suddenly hear the distinct noise of a nearby machine gives me the creeps! But it is oh-so-exciting! Not to mention all the battles I've had. They are actually quite the challenge as well!
So, if you like to explore and immerse yourself totally in a game this is for you.
You can play it in co-op with 3 friends as well :)

I really recommend this, excellent atmosphere and very much to do. Definitely worth it :)
För Sverige, I tiden!

A very nice and pleasant experience playing this.
Music, ambience and atmosphere is great.

Granted some of the puzzles was too hard for me. And the secret achievements was a bit too hidden I think.
Or maybe it is just me that isn't used to the point and click adventure games enough.
I had to use an excellent guide to finish this game and to catch the hidden secrets.

All in all, a great game and highly recommended!

A good game, really enjoyable just like its predecessor and just like its successor.
However, when it comes to destroying massive amounts of henchmen of evil-doers this game is second to none :)
I recommend it!

Hmm.... I am conflicted when writing this review.

To be totally honest, the game gives me the feeling of being in a bit of shambles.
There is a really intriguing "world" that the developers have created. However, I get the feeling that they have so much they want to do but either not enough time or not enough experience to do it well. I guess it could be a bit of both.

There is a skill system where you can get passive bonuses (apart from three new skills I think) that bolster your regular fighting or certain moves that you already use. The fighting is wonky, the hit boxes doesn't really register as they should and there is nothing to prevent you from being stun-locked by a swarm of lesser enemies without being able to do anything to prevent your death. Makes it....not so much fun to play.

You will get followers during your travels, I think it is a total of 4 you can meet (but only have 1 at a time). You can sometimes speak to them and get some info out of them or to romance them (there is no real indication of when you can do this, which I find a bit annoying. Since if you don't speak to them at the correct moment you will miss out on a romance. That's what happened to me at least.
You cannot customize them, save for giving them orders to "stay on the defensive", "attack ranged enemy first", "attack nearest target" or "attack the target I am attacking".

Story-wise.
The game has an interesting lore about the world going on, though I feel I don't get to know enough about it. For example, the notion of draining "serum" from your enemies never really got explained. (Serum is apparently water and it is what is used for currency on Mars nowadays).
Other than that, nothing special in the story but it is an alright tale that is being told.
The dialogue is a bit weird at times as well, what people say and how they act. And when words that don't generally fit the setting are suddenly being used (if we take "♥♥♥♥" for example, it doesn't really fit into the world and almost no one uses it but suddenly it appears). The dialogue that leaves something to be asked of might be due to the developers being non-native english speakers.

To sum it up, the game is an alright game. You can play it if you really have nothing else to do or if you just want to cool off your brain and follow a decent-though-nothing-special story. Though due to the fighting (which there is a lot of, and a lot of enemies at the same time almost always) it will not be a smooth ride.

Me personally....I'd say Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is doing the things Mars: War Logs are doing way better (that is the game I kept thinking if when playing this game).
Though, I appreciate the efforts of the developers. They tried and made a decent game. They make me intrigued to try out more French-developed games.

Early Access Review
For a game being so "simplistic" in its execution it really is awesome.
One can tell that the main focus of the developers (as they've said) is immersion because it really drags you into it.
Everytime the atmosphere and the environment changes I feel my body tensing up in preparation to tackle this new battlefield. In fact, I am tense all the time while playing this.
So far there is only one weapon and there isn't anything diversifying players. It is just you, your gun and the enemy. And the enemy has the same exact conditions. So it all boils down to skill and how good you can sneak, aim and outsmart your opponent.
It brings me back to the old Quake days. To Quake 1. And I like it. I like it alot! It was a long time since I played a game that took one back to that basic primal skill-based instinct one has to utilize to survive here.

I can really feel the passion of the developers when playing this game. Well done!!
Looking forward to playing more of this!
