This game is an ABSOLUTE blast. Let's start off with that out of the way.

This is a one-of-a-kind City-Builder, when you launch the game, you will be guided with a very well-made Tutorial. Now, I usually hate Tutorials that are shoved into your face, but this one, was surprisingly fun, easy and user-friendly to understand and follow. The Tutorial does a great job at showing you the ropes, without exactly holding your hand.

When it comes to the gameplay, it is pretty fast-paced, games last usually around 45 mins to an hour, depending of course on the difficulty chosen, one can also choose to continue building their settlement if they so choose, even when all objectives are done in the specific area in which you are deployed.

The game is simple, yet very complex in its gameplay mechanics, maps and world map. It all looks so simple, yet it is so nuanced. Maps are always randomly generated, yet you will always recognize the layouts in which you are embarking. This stops users from being confused at every expedition, but also keeps the gameplay fresh and new at each different experiences. Maybe one settlement, you'll have lucky spawns, lucky glades, and maybe another, you won't be as lucky and will have to adapt your game to whatever problem you are facing.

You choose wether the game will be relax, or more stressful. Simply choose the first 2 difficulties for a more mellow gameplay, and the Veteran and Viceroy difficulty for when you feel a bit more adventurous. The difficulties, not only affect the weather and gameplay difficulty, but the higher difficulties actually force you to have a different play-style. I feel like that is nice, since you cannot always use the same strategy, no matter the difficulty.

The learning-curve is also very satisfying to surpass, when you figure out how to make your settlement work on higher difficulties with new strategies, you will get a feeling that is VERY hard to beat in video-games. Very satisfying feeling.

Without going too much into details and spoiling character's abilities and utilities, I will just say this ; make sure you read what each characters specialize in! Characters in your embark all have varying work-skills, and ideally, having these workers at their specific work-stations in which they should be, will be very helpful, especially on the higher difficulties.

This is a game that will have you hooked before you know it. This game is not to be underestimated. At first glance, it may look like a simple game without too much depth, but on the contrary, this game has so much to offer, and boy am I glad I followed my gut feeling and bought it.

In conclusion, I 100% recommend this game. Replayability is great, gameplay is absolutely great, characters are awesome and visual art is just out of this world. Developers are very active, and listen to the community, which in itself, is something to absolutely admire. These developers have all my respect and my support.
