If "I ain't readin all that," go to the bottom

From what I can say starting chapter 2, this game is a very mixed bag. I really like the ideas happening in this game, but there quite a few issues that bring it to like a B- maybe C. The art direction is absolutely phenomenal, going almost for a Disco Elysium but more exaggerated and gritty, and the voice acting is most great apart from some minor roles.

The general gameplay ties the Point and Click segments to the Combat segments with Action points, where quite a bit of actions take AP, and if you get into a fight, they don't top up, so you'll have to use a turn to get them back up, or wait a turn in the PaC mode. but what is a weird design is when you end a turn in PaC, the alert meter goes up, which raises your chances of getting ambushed by guards, which creates a weird dynamic with exploration, feeling like you're getting punished with fights for exploring the environment. I would this kind of style for maybe a procedurally generated game but with finely crafted maps, you want to explore everything, even more so with achievements.

Another big segment is the skill minigames to do certain things like hack terminals, pick locks, or brute force objects, which brings the game down quite a bit because they aren't very fun or feel that good to do, like the strength minigame is where you have to move an arrow on a slider to the glowing area to pass a check, but instead of the needle like having some force on it, it's jittering wildly, so it feels like luck passing a check. the lockpick minigame is very precise and not very forgiving. I personally like the hacking minigame because it's like number wordle, but I can see it taking some time and it definitely ruined the tension for one part in act 3.

The combat is a little funky, like YIIK without the minigames. they have a like levelheaded meter that gives you debuffs if it gets low which is a cool mechanic that also ties PaC and Turn Based Combat, like when it gets low, you have to do your turns within a time limit or you're skipped.

***This will be updated when i finish the game, but from 4 hours in i can say:
9/10 visuals - very stunning
10/10 voice acting - very natural line reads
6/10 story - fun characters and good dialogue writing but general plot is not great
5/10 gameplay - cool ideas but not done very well, trying too much at once

overall 7/10 - hope the rest of the chapters get better but that won't change core game issues

Its very fun and it shows that there has been tweaks to make both sides pretty even. The gameplay is very fun with killers with all sorts of abilities that completely change how the killer is played, and extra perks from survivors can make really crazy builds.

However, at no fault of the game or it's creators, there are people who take the game really really seriously and will be really rude, the community as a whole is great! I've met plenty of nice people, but there will always be a keyboard warrior to insult you about once or twice every session, but I think this far out weights what you are getting with this game

Currently barely playable with a gtx1070, never had issues with performance on any games like cyberpunk, running solid 60 fps most of the time. however, Starfield seems to be such an exceptional game that my relatively decent computer can't handle it since Bethesda doesn't like either optimizing their games or Geforce cards. I along with many others have relied on the wonderful modding community to make the game playable. Not worth the 70 dollars, not even worth the 60. there might be cool stuff in the game, but from how far I have gotten at 15 fps, it is incredibly disengaging. There are cool things to make your own fun with, as with most bethesda games, but I would wait for some kind of official patch for the next 6 months or wait for half off in a year or two.

This game has some flaws but I think if more time is put into it, it can be something great. It does capture some essence of movement shooter like Doom Eternal, but the mechanics aren't really polished and need tweaking. I think that the jumps were too short for some of the platforming, the slide proves to be pretty useless unless for going underthings (I think something like Borderlands 3 sliding would be good), the grapple hook doesn't feel right (I think the way it pulls you towards it can be reworked a bit and I would have it so the hook pulls through the whole way on the tap of the key and cancels if pressed again instead of having to hold it down), and the level design on some of the parkour doesn't feel right for the mechanics in the game (ex. the upward loop in boneweald). There was also a bug where I failed to kill the boss on ground zero and it would fail to spawn after I respawned and if i restarted the level (i had to restart the game). I also have some nitpicks. I think that the reload speed on both the shotgun and the assault rifle is pretty slow and I wouldn't mond having it be quite a bit faster, the damage from the assault rifle didn't seem as impactful as the shotgun, but i think this is primarily from reload speed, I thought that the damage numbers, while a good indication of damage, cluttered the screen (I would prefer a damage bar or something similar, especially for a movement shooter, but I don't think a way to show damage is necessary, maybe a stat sheet or something on the side.), the electric beat didn't have much of a punch or the grit matching the gameplay and repeated too much (doesn't really feel like arena or boss music), I think the weapons take up a little too much space on the screen, the some sfx is more compressed in others (only really in the introduction cutscenes), The sounds used on the weapons didn't sound too great, and the animation in general seem choppy.(The main issue is the reloading animation). I do like a few things about it, like the basic wasd movement is good, the midair dash feels good, the alien design is good, it's ambitious to have so many mechanics like the dash, sliding, and grapple hook, i like the stamina system, and the arena design is fine.Seeing as this game is free and from a university, it's a great start, but you should try and master the main mechanics and issues i listed before making more levels.
