Updated Review: Hulu ass UI update is terrible and sours what is an amazing game.

Unfortunately, due to inflation, I can no longer recommend this game that I absolutely adore.

First Impressions after playing for 5 hours straight on my first night with the game. For context the year is 2024 and I am just now getting started with Space stations and bases on Luna, I believe this puts me still in phase 1 of the 3 major game stages.

This game is truly something special. It is the level of scale and depth I have wanted from a game my entire life and this group of glorious devs has provided it. There are so many calculations and simulations happening within this game its mind boggling. In short this is shaping up to be the experience i always wanted from games like Stellaris and Sins of a Solar Empire.

I will be sure to update my review if my thoughts change or if these mechanics start to feel inconsequential.

UPDATE

Still in the same campaign, the year is almost 2040. It has taken me about 60 hours to reach this point. There is so much complexity that keeps getting added to the game as you progress its amazing. Even the story of the aliens is excellent and grounded in hard sci fi, well as much as aliens can be at least. Also the space ship combat is incredible, you truly can design your fleets exactly how you want from what drives are used all the way down to which radiators you choose.

I do not normally like Horror games. But this game is one of the most fun experiences I've had in gaming to date, and that's really due to the Co-Op with friends. The detective element is extremely engaging and makes every case you take exciting. You actually feel like you are solving the case your way, not just walking through guided steps. I also have never yelled for my life like I have playing this game with friends at 3AM.

Give it a try, BUT PLAY THE TUTORIAL AND WATCH A 4 minute guide on the basics of gameplay before you go into a match!

If you like squad, but want an even slower paced game then I would recommend this one. Its the little things in this that make it so great. Gore, sound design, and gun play are all top notch. Tank crew game play in this is much more involved than Squad's as well. I believe the setting of WWII makes the team play even stronger. You as an individual are much more limited on what you can do as opposed to squad where any one man can take out an entire squad due to his 30 round mag and easy to use optic. You have to play with your squad even more in this title and I love it. If you are on the fence wait until the 23rd of April when the D-Day update comes out, there might be a sale and maybe even a free to play weekend.

This game is an absolute blast with some mates on the couch or even online. We haven't laughed this hard while playing a game in many years.

Hearing that nostalgic menu theme music on while its displayed on my glorious 165hz 1440p screen is worth the 10$ alone. Never thought I'd see the day.

This game is so good I had to write a review, which i never do.
If you ever played Dwarf Fortress but felt it was too much to handle then this is the game for you. What i mean by that is not that this game is easy, because it is by no means easy, but that you have far less micromanaging to do in this compared to Dwarf Fortress. The first night I bought it I was playing until 4 AM, its been a long time since a new game has made me do that. So take a chance and play it for 2 hours and refund it if its really not your jam. But I highly doubt that will be the case.

Dont buy this, Take two interactive is screwing it over with the online gameplay and anti modding policys.
