This is a great remake of an already amazing flash game. The additions for this game only serve to expand the fantastic quality of the game. The proverbial cherry on this sundae. The only thing I wish they included was volume sliders, since some of the sounds in the game are loud. Other than that, 5/5

When I saw this DLC on my library page, I was excited. Queen Vanessa is one of the more interesting characters in A Hat in Time, so I was hoping for a few more levels that possibly expanded the lore on both The Snatcher and Queen Vanessa.

Then I saw that it was online multiplayer. I initially was hesitant at first, but I had faith that Gears for Breakfast made a good choice.

My faith went away quickly

For starters, it's very difficult to even get started on a game. For the longest time, I didn't even know that you had to join a party to get into the game proper. The lobby never explained that, so whenever I got into the "JOIN GAME" square, I was stuck waiting for nothing. Having to join for nothing and boot back into the main hub is just infuriating. Alongside that, there's no party list system at all! You have to just know what the name of the party you want to join, otherwise you're not gonna play anything.

Even if you get into a game, the mode is filled with bugs that make the mode unplayable, hackers that just instantly win without any chance of trying, and honestly just unfair tricks that just make this mode just not fun.

I can see that they want to include the modding community into the game, and I can applaud Gears for giving the modders a nod and a thanks for working hard to make their game better and adding fresh content to this, but this game mode really isn't a good start to their program.

To be truthful, I really don't understand why a game like A Hat in Time needs online co-op/multiplayer. It's a platformer. The last thing I think of when I think of this genre is an online Capture the Flag mode like this. I was seriously hoping for more Single Player content, since that's the whole point of a game like this.

This gamemode is honestly unplayable, and I sincerely hope G4B fixes this game mode. Otherwise I think this would put a blemish on an otherwise fantastic indie game.

It changed way to much from the original Town of Us mod they had on the github. I don't see why they couldn't just port the github version over.

This game is by far one incredible game! I've played this game for a total of 100 hours and I'm still unlocking new stuff! And with the new Afterbirth+ hopefully coming out later in the year, there will be even more! I love this game so much! It's worth a buy.
