Decided to finally buy the game, since it was at -60% off. I've been on the fence about this game for more than a year now, and when I heard that they would be making an updated version of the game (Enhanced Edition) I got interested again.

GENERAL COMMENTS
First thing that goes right out the window is the actual price of the game. This is priced at the same price that you would pay for a high-production value Triple A game, but this game does not feel like one. Most of the Terminator voice acting feels like two office guys played with Audacity to record their lines with various effects and that's it, it does not feel professional in any sense. Menus in the game are very basic and feel almost like they were made in early 2000's, clunky and not very responsive. Basic is the exact word I'd use.

GRAPHICS

Hands down the best thing about the game. Armor design looks awesome and the weapon details are outstanding. You ARE a Terminator armor wielding Astartes. Maps are huge and very detailed. It feels like a Warhammer 40.000 setting and even the animations for the most part are solid, even if a sprinting Terminator looks kinda janky. Whoever was responsible for the graphics design of the game really nailed the core feel of WH40k and I applaud the effort. Melee animations are stiff, but I would imagine that they would be in a Terminator suit. Performance of the game is alright now. At maximum settings I get between 90-140 fps in combat, which is nice.

GAMEPLAY

Repetative and endless, just like service to the Emperor of Mankind. If you play for an hour, that's what it's going to be for 50 or 500 hours more. Nothing really spectacular done with the objectives as well. Go there, hold the position, kill the hordes of Genestealers and various other Tyranid strains and that pretty much it. Weapons are OK, but just that. Psi powers are useless and they barely do anything, you can fire a Lightning Strike into a horde of nids and it will barely do anything, you are better off spamming melee or just unloading your Bolter. Ai of your partners (Emperor help you, if you decide to play solo) is absolute garbage, you have issues even closing doors since they are always in your way. Most of your Apothecary's healing is used to have your AI partners just to stay alive. Ten years ago Left 4 Dead still had better companion AI. Enemy AI is also bonkers, rush at you in a congo line and there's no real attempt at even taking more than one or two paths at a time. There are also ranged Genestealer cultist enemies, which is kind of a mixed bag. Yes, they do provide an additional challenge firing at you from range, but then again you are a Terminator and your armor would not even dent from their crappy autogun fire. Regular human looking enemies with "conventional" weaponry (conventional in a WH40k sense) would not even manage to penetrate your armor, and here you go down way to quickly to regular arms fire. Sure a Tyranid can open you like a can from melee range with it's chitin blades and whatnot, but you are a walking tank with an immense firepower package - regular weapons should not damage you to a degree that it does here.

AUDIO

Nothing really spectacular, voice acting as previously mentioned does not feel professional in any way. Dawn of War 1, back in 2004 had way better voice acting. Gun sounds are not what you'd expect when firing a gun that propels bullet-shaped explosives that would put a .50cal weapon to shame. Lacks a certain punch to feel rewarding when blasting waves of Tyranids and in a game that you'll be spending hours upon hours of using and hearing your weapons, this is really a boner-killer.

CONCLUSION

I have not played the Multiplayer yet, and I probably won't do so, since the package as is it not really engaging. Sure, if you can get 4 other people to play with you, fill a role and play as a team with solid communication, then I would imagine that this game would be an amazing ride. However, when opening the matchmaking lobby, most of the playbase that I saw is in password-locked lobbies, so if you don't go out of your way to actually find people to play with, then you are probably not going to get the best experience out of the game. You really have to love this game more than it is worth, and with the non-sale price tag that it's asking - definitely not worth the purchase.

Even with a -60% off, it's still a huge stretch to make you consider buying it. It does not have the production value that the price point is asking for and you really have to go above and beyond to forcefully love this game to enjoy it. I guess we still have to wait for a good Warhammer 40k game, since nothing other than the Dawn of War/Space Marine series can scratch that itch.

Blessed is the mind too small for doubt. Basically that's almost a requirement, if you are to enjoy this game.
