Throw Me in the River manages to say a lot in a short amount of time. It's clear that the writing, visual art, and soundtrack all have much thought and passion behind them. Several aspects of the game, particularly the themes of divorce, father issues, and self reflection really resonated with me. There are definitely plenty of options that make a subsequent playthrough well worth it in order to see all the possible dialogues, and seeing the gallery with commentary in between definitely helped appreciate the effort that went in to this game. I would love to see Side Group continue and improve upon this excellent base they've created, as I feel that this is just the beginning of their potential. I also still haven't unlocked the last part of the gallery and it's driving me crazy, I have to know!

Nobody listens when I tell them to play this game. Just wait, in a few years this game is going to get the attention it deserves. Then they'll see. 6.34e+2 / 6.34e+2 masterpiece

Why play this over ANY OTHER survival game?

-Insane amount of armor, weapons, items and accessories to customize your character's stats and play-style
-Actual sense of progression by getting better gear, killing tougher bosses, unlocking new biomes, etc.
-Ridiculous amount of bosses and enemies, unique events (with unique drops), a lot of which are tied directly to progression
-Biomes galore, all very different from one another and very well executed
-Over 20 NPCs that offer services healing, shopping, item stat-rerolling and more
-Very in depth potion-crafting system, including a whole system around gardening/harvesting ingredients
-Mini-games like golf, capture the gem, 4-team-PVP, and fishing (although fishing has a very practical use in potion crafting)
-Soundtrack is catchy without wearing out its welcome (even after almost 700 hours of playtime)

tModLoader is also now on Steam and has made accessing fan-made mods easier than ever before. On that note, everything I've just described is only the base game. If you want twice as many bosses, harder bosses, crazier weapons or biomes, go for it. It's free because the community around this game (the devs included) is amazing. I mean, after 460,000+ reviews it still has an "Overwhelmingly Positive" and it's $10. What else is there to say?
