You start out gathering and making small batches of things you need by hand from a pretty alien planet.
By the end game you'll have 100s of machines working together to process 1000s of varied materials, all of which are spread across a huge open world, into basic usable goods.
Those 1000s of basic goods will then need to be further refined and combined into 100s of mid tier items, which requires you to connect multiple factories which you have built through a network of trains, trucks, pipes, conveyor belts and more.
All of these 100s of items then need to be brought together and further processed to produce a handful of highly complicated end products per minute and complete the goal of the game, unlocking a tonne of cool, fun and useful things as you go.
