Fantastic game, featuring large sandbox-like levels with multiple ways to complete missions, great attention to detail, lovely soundtrack and overall a joy to play. One of the best stealth games out there. I played this on PS4, thus my low Steam playtime.

The developers ought to be imprisoned for life for creating this "game".

It's literally Age of Empires 2, but Star Wars. Also, Duel of the Fates plays when you start a game. What more can you ask for.

Hell yeah, good old Stronghold 2, now better than ever. More maps, restored multiplayer and Steam Workshop. Thank you Firefly Games for reviving my childhood classic <3

This game holds a special place in my heart, it's probably my favourite videogame of all time. I've been waiting for its release since 2013. I'll never forget the excitement and hype that the beautifully edited trailers built up, the numerous conspiracies, theories and coincidences surrounding various details of the game and the problems behind the scenes, most notable being the fallout between the series creator Hideo Kojima and Konami, which lead to Kojima Productions being disbanded, Hideo's name being taken off the game's box art and the rushed release of the game, with some features getting cut as a result. But what I'll remember the most is getting back home on September 1st, when the game got released, booting it up, seeing the intro with the phrase "Just another day in a war without end, Outer Heaven" following it, and finally seeing the words "A Hideo Kojima Game" for one more final time, followed by Midge Ure's cover of David Bowie's "The Man Who Sold The World". It was a magical experience and I'll never forget it. One scene in particular (well, actually the idea behind it) made me really depressed and there are other really emotional and memorable scenes that screwed me up, some of them being SPOILERS ( Gunning down your own soldiers in the mission "Shining Lights, Even in Death", the Paz cutscenes, Huey's exile and Quiet's departure in the mission "A Quiet Exit").

Now, for the actual review:

+ The gameplay is fantastic. Gameplay-wise it's the best stealth game out there. The controls are extremely fluid, there are plenty of ways to complete missions and the AI is surprisingly unpredictable. The enemy soldiers will adapt to your way of playing. For example, if you rely on smoke grenades too much, they'll start wearing gas masks, or if you keep infiltrating at night, they'll start using night vision goggles and flashlights. There are plenty of weapons, items and gadgets to choose from so the possibilities to complete your objectives are pretty much limitless.

+ Soundtrack is amazing. Probably the best in the series. Sure, it may not be as iconic as the previous ones but it's great nonetheless. Sometimes it's muffled by other sound effects, like gunfire, which makes it more difficult to be heard. There are many great tracks like "Parasites", "Metallic Archaea", "Bloodstained Anthem", "Behind The Mirror" and of course, "Sins Of The Father".

+ The story is great. Yeah, I said it. Most people probably won't agree with me though. Story-wise it's certainly not the best Metal Gear game, far from it. But it's still really good. There are a lot of memorable and emotional moments, and it's a great experience overall. It does explain a lot of things (SPOILERS) ( Like how Big Boss survived Metal Gear 1, how Zero became a braindead vegetable, why Otacon hates his father Huey, how Liquid Snake and Psycho Mantis met up (the game also reveals Liquid's real name!), how the Patriots AI was created and more). So saying that the game adds nothing to the lore of Metal Gear is pretty ignorant in my opinion. Some people even consider this game a spin-off for some reason. I have no idea why.

+ The graphics and the cinematography of cutscenes are beautiful. Fox Engine provides great visuals, as the game looks great even on PS3 and XBOX 360. Of course, the cutscenes aren't as plentiful as in previous games but they're gorgeous and really fascinating. I actually noticed that a number of them are shot in a single scene, without any cuts. That is really impressive.

+ Metal Gear Online is a great addition, it's really fun, although sometimes annoying too. It seems to get better with every update, in it's current state it's pretty good. It may not be as good as the Metal Gear Online that came with MGS4 but it's still good.

- The missions may get repetitive fast. Side OPS and main missions sometimes consist of filler extracting something or eliminating someone or gathering intel. But it does make sense. Come on, you're a private army, you need to get funds and resources somehow by taking on jobs like this, right?

- The world sometimes feels dead. The Mujahideen rebels don't really appear in the game, despite being mentioned by other characters. There aren't any civilians either, but I guess it does make sense, since it's a warzone and they've evacuated...?

- The game is kinda unfinished. Sure, it does have an ending but it feels like the game is really rushed. Chapter 1 is great but Chapter 2 is just a few original missions and older missions on EXTREME difficulty. There also seems to be a Chapter 3 that's called PEACE, although it's unclear whether it's been cut from the game or if it actually exists in the game. Rumor has it that Chapter 3 starts when the nuclear disarmament is achieved (that's when all players disamantle their nukes). Although that is extremely hard to achieve (just like in real life, huh?). Other things cut from the game include, SPOILERS ( Episode 51 (there are many theories about this, some of them being that there wasn't enough development time or it just didn't fit in the game well, or maybe just because of technical limitations), guard dogs, Battle Gear and some more ). However, it doesn't mean that it was all meant to be in the game. All games have cut content and maybe some of it wouldn've have fit in the game.

All in all, it's an amazing game. I highly recommend playing it.
