It's a Civ game of the 4X genre.

It's funny seeing all the players who have added 10+ hours (or even doubled) their playtimes since making their negative reviews. Metrics mean more than feelings in the gaming industry, it's still a solid game.

My only complaint for the game is the leader levels/challenges system. It is most efficient to play on the lowest difficulty and get every legacy path maxed in all ages if you're completing the challenges, but that makes the game feel like it's on rails doing it on repeat.

But on the flip side, after you finish the leader challenges the sandbox should open up a lot. The mementos do change up the gameplay/strategy for any leader/civ combo, and legacy paths would be completely optional. I look forward to trying out some intentional dark ages down the line.
