I was only hoping they would add a proper sensitivity slider instead of presets that the originals lacked and uncap the 80 fps limit. Instead, not only did they not do that, but I also couldn't make a profile with the name I've always been using because apparently it's "too offensive".

There's probably tons of other issues this game has like horrible netcode and lack of servers but I didn't experience that because I barely played it. I already knew I was going to refund at the starting screen. Oh, and they butchered the original Battlefront II main menu.

If you're into bad PC ports and controls, generic weeb anime characters, cringe worthy voice acting and dialogue and one of the worst possible starting sections in a video game I've seen, then this game might be for you, I guess.

I see a lot of people online praising the Remake so much and some people even saying how it does everything better than the original. I think the remake is mediocre, especially for an AAA title.

The animations look wonky. Some people like me were complaining about it before the game got released. They didn't manage to fix them and suddenly everyone doesn't care that they look straight up ridiculous? The moving, the stomp, the punching animations, etc. I managed to avoid being grabbed by necros in my first playthrough so I watched some of the death animations on YouTube. The moment Isaac gets grabbed the camera suddenly changes. It's really bad, I have no idea how people can praise this so much. In the original when you had to to face the drag tentacle, you could move freely while it pops up before it finally grabs you by the ankle. In the remake, your character completely stops and waits to get grabbed. It feels a bit disrespectful as the original creator of the game said that it was a huge issue for them but they managed to nail it. The remake devs just avoided the problem entirely.

Voice acting is better in the original than in the remake. I like the original characters way better too. I didn't like how they also changed some of the story and added unskippable cutscenes that take controls of your character so you're forced to sit and watch. The cutscenes also hinder replayability greatly. That part where Isaac's with Johnston or Hammond and before he can move he slowly stays still in one spot and removes his helmet from his head, making you walk slowly, unable to sprint or do anything until the dialogue finishes, only for Isaac to slowly put it back up 30 seconds later? Yeah, that too.

The game also has some performance issues reported by many people on good gaming rigs like constant stuttering and input delay. I have an RTX 3070. While I did manage to play on 140ish (it can go way lower on some parts) FPS at 1080P, I did experience constant stuttering as well as input delay on the weapons. I also crashed thanks to a forced patch while I was half way through playing on Impossible without saving once, so when I booted up I started from the very beginning without any weapons. I kept playing a day later, this timesaving from time to time. Managed to get an infinite loading screen 2 times randomly so I had to forcefully close the game and revert a bit.

The combat loop is better than the original and you can no longer stun lock necros with your weapons, however they screwed up the kinesis. They are times where I wanted to pick up objects right infront of me and the game for some reason would not let me. That includes the dead necromorhph's blades or stasis/explosive canisters. I would try to grab them, but I would get some other object instead way off where I aimed or I would get some necro body I killed earlier. Also the fact that no one can really run this game at really high fps like +200 or 300, making aiming a bit sloppy. I've played FPS games semi competitively and playing on lower fps I can really feel the difference in the mouse feel. I'm not sure how to explain it properly but I feel like people who've also play FPS especially on low sensitivity would understand. Though it's not really a thing that the devs can do much besides optimizing the game better as the graphics are good. Maybe soon we'll get an overpriced GPU that can run games like this on +200 fps on low. Who knows.

It's an alright game but the original does everything besides graphics way better. If you're gonna get it, I suggest you wait for a sale. Also don't get the DLC. The suits are straight up just reskins that do nothing. I only equipped them once to see them.

Honestly, it feels like a worse version of Left 4 Dead in every way. The "Ridden" are not interesting in any way and they feel boring to fight. The guns are alright I guess. The game has a card system which I'm not really a fan of. The survivors or "cleaners" as they call them are also quite bland and boring, with generic to cringe worthy voice lines. I remember when the first trailer of this game came out and I couldn't watch 2 minutes of it as soon as I heard one of the characters speak, because I knew from that point that I won't enjoy this game. This review is coming from a L4D2 veteran with over 2k hours, so I might be biased but in my opinion, just get L4D2, it's way more fun and the characters are well written and have unique voice lines, unlike these "cleaners".
