First off this game was amazing and an excellent prequel to LiS. So I absolutely hate leaving a bad review.

Unfortunately, however, it seems the remaster didn't get enough love in the QC department as the subtitles were consistently always one segment behind, didn't appear, or the dialogue audio would bug and not play. Or both. There was also weird graphical glitches with glowing orbs that appeared at least two times throughout my play through, and these bugs only got worse in the Bonus Episode: Farewell.

It's definitely playable and still enjoyable, but its not of the quality that what we deserve. I've read online the original prequel is in much better shape without these glitches and had I known I would have preferred to buy that over having my immersion needlessly and inconsistently broken

Edit: I actually got this prequel on sale in the True Colours Bundle for about CAD $40. So its arguably worth it while on sale, but still unacceptable quality.

There is SO much that I could say about this game. This game has made me feel so happy and full of joy in a time when I needed it the most. It brought me laughter, an it brought me shock. It's made me so heart-wrenchingly sad that I've cried for hours. This game didn't just make me FEEL like Max. It made me become her. I felt her joy just as I felt her pain. This story impacted my life, and I'll never forget it

Early Access Review
The soundtrack is awesome and the game feel so cool to play, but my feelings about this game are complicated.

1. On the one hand it absolutely scratches the in-depth sci-fi RTS that I've been yearning over for years.
I finally get to command fleets of ships, and role play as a brilliant tactician.... only to discovery that this game is so in depth, strategic, and complicated that It's made me realise I am just a TERRIBLE tactician. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE the concept of this game, and wish more developers were trying to implement this level of depth. Its something that I really want to learn and get good at.

2. On the other hand, I can't help but feel overwhelmed with the amount of complexity and steepness of learning curve, that I end up feeling unmotivated when it comes to the commitment to actually learn this game. Youtube is helpful, but I wish there were more tutorials and scripted skirmishes to slowly learn fleet strategies, formations, and tactics. Especially when it comes to the ship editor as I have literally no idea how to prepare for PVP.

3. The campaign being cancelled only makes the learning curve feel more daunting, and given that it was highly anticipated and probably the reason most people bought this game (myself included) I don't see much opportunity for this community to grow, and fear that its only a matter of time until this game is put onto life support.

Overall, this is a really enjoyable game, but it is extremely daunting to learn and hard to truly excel at. If the learning curve (being the main hurdle) was simplified I would change this review to positive. I do still want to play this game in the meantime, but as an adult, I can't really see myself being able to commit adequate time and effort to it.

Haven't played the reloaded edition with guns, so I'm hesitant, however, when this game first debuted it was better than the original. 10/10

Magnificent world building, somehow they made a video game feel warm and cozy (and then unexpectedly scary). I loved the music, I loved the visuals. Everything about this game was breathtaking

All I'm gonna say is that the final fight made me feel true fear and terror.
Better than the first. Now my number 1 SciFi universe!

This is one of those games that really pulls you in and immerses you in the world, and what its like to be the main character. The story was so captivating and incredible, invoking a good mix of mystery, bewilderment, awe, and even horror/terror. This is a story that you can only truly experience once (like subnautica, firewatch, etc) as the mystery will never feel the same. Its a phenomenal game, and probably one of my favourite SciFi universes. 10/10 would recommend.
