It a slavjank game(just like the originals) with a AAA budget made by a AA company mainly comprised of newer developers. It's janky and can be buggy as hell, BUT, their heart and soul is in the right place. This game might not be perfect until a year or 2 down the line, but the Devs are doing their best and it absolutely shows when you play the game. There is immense passion for this project. I pray to god that Microsoft gives them time to fix the game and release new content to it.

Slapdash Review/b]

Mainline its okay, feels similar enough to the original trilogy that I can give a generic recommendation to people who loved the original trilogy.

Christ I hate that A-life wasn't implemented, and Jesus the spawns for enemies....I was at a certain area slowly scouting around and people kept ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ spawning near the entrance of the facility. I would slowly go in observe, go back to the entrance and "oh boy" 1-2 more enemies just randomly spawned that I had to take out again. Great for making cash from their loot but it ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sucks that what you do doesn't really change anything and spawns are just random triggers in the world.

Bug wise I haven't had anything game breaking yet *knock on wood*

Again hype got the better of me, if we include mods this game is not the "definitive stalker experience" especially with GAMMA and Anomaly around.....
BUT, it is fun and absolutely has great moments when playing that are close enough. It's a great sequel to the base-game original trilogy, but sadly it does contain some of their problems(like constant bleeding) and newer ones that bog everything down.

IMO it's still worth it for me, especially for someone who loved the older games and the standalone mods, even with the BS Bugs.....

Honesty time now

Majority of my time in the game has just been exploring and doing side quests, not those generic side quest you can get from bartenders but like events you can come across or events you can get that cover a region that you just found. Absolutely amazing and engaging and had me hooked anytime I came across them!

I'll be honest though, I couldn't give a ♥♥♥♥ about the main story. Literally don't care, its annoying to go through especially with how tedious some missions get. Not hard, just slow and tedious with story I really don't care about. And god help you when you get to the point in the story that NEARLY EVERY ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ENEMY GETS EXOSKELETONS.

Edit Dec 13 2024: Main story was bad/annoying, I'm was more invested with exploration and sidequest/world building. Beautify done and well made.

Overall I think the game is 70-85% worth the price, especially if you loved the OG games and Anomaly. I still have high hopes that the devs will fix a majority of the issues and problems plaguing the game today and I'm excited to see what any future content/fixes they bring us.

An extremely enjoyable point and click adventure! If you loved games like the original two Monkey Island's, the original Sam and Max you HAVE to try this out!!!!!!!

It's full of comedy and great writing, and avoids the pitfalls of those older games with convoluted puzzle solutions.

My only complaint is that it's short! Make sure you only play it like an hour a day to spread out your enjoyment!!!!!!!!!!!

I cannot believe how few people have even heard of this game! Spread the word, more people need to hear about this masterpiece of a game!

Steam really needs a meh/mid option for reviews.

It's not a bad game by any means, but it's really not as fun as the first game. Let me explain a bit:

1. It's not nearly as dark and grim as the first game. Makes sense since there's not a plague going around but it just doesn't have the same atmosphere or tone as the original game. Not a huge fan.

2. Story is mid. I couldn't really care less about the story of this game. The first had me invested throughout it even with the DLCs! I really don't know what this game is missing but I couldn't care less about the story here and to be honest I eventually started skipping dialogue just to get to the gameplay. Also WHY THE ♥♥♥♥ IS DELILAH BACK?! WHAT WAS THE POINT OF THE DLC IN THE FIRST GAME IF THEY WERE JUST GOING TO BRING HER BACK?????

3. There's almost too much to do every mission. I feel like Dishonored 1 did missions better with there being less but still giving the player a big and interesting area to traverse/explore. The missions in 2 have a bunch of clutter in terms of items enemies and side quests and all to go through. Sure some people may like that but it really bogs down the game hitting every tiny thing. For a few missions I skipped getting bone charms and runes because I was just getting annoyed trying to figure out how to get myself to one specific corner of the maps.

4. I'm not a fan of the voice acting, at least on Corvo's part. I love Stephen Russell as a voice actor and he has amazing range(he did Nick Valentine AND Codsworth in Fallout 4 for gods sake) but his Garrett voice from the original Thief games is just tiring to listen to. Monotone and boring.

5. The bugs. Man oh man are there bugs aplenty. Sure I haven't hit anything game breaking so far but there's a bunch of small stuff like enemies automatically going into suspicion mode when you reload a save, bodies randomly getting detected when they're in places it wouldn't be possible to find, graphical glitches aaaaallll over the place like clipping issues. It all adds to making the game feel worse than the first by a mile.

Some things I do like are:
*The game looks good, I do wish it was still dark and depressing as the first, but some of the new areas are beautiful to be in.
*The gameplay can be just as satisfying as the original game.

Overall if you liked the first game 100% give IF the game is on sale. But I still think the first game and its DLC is an overall better and more satisfying experience to go through than its sequel...

EDIT: BUY AND PLAY THE FIRST GAME INSTEAD! God the sequel sucks, it's boring and there just too much ♥♥♥♥ going on in missions. The first game is better with a more realized environment and better story with even better atmosphere. They made Dishonored 2 too generic. If it's on sale then sure play it but it's full full of mehhhhh

I'll be honest I don't think I'll ever have the will or patience to finish it.

Edit Dec 13, 2024:
Yup to annoying to play through. Deleted it and I don't think I'll ever be back. Buy and play the first game, it's great.

Alright I really love the game, interesting story with interesting environments and absolutely great writing.

My only issue is that if you want to do a really stealthful/ghost playhrough the game ends up just being:

Quickload Save Quickload Save Quickload Save Quickload Save Quickload Save Quickload Save Quickload Save Quickload Save Quickload Save Quickload Save Quickload Save Quickload Save Quickload Save Quickload Save Quickload Save Quickload Save Quickload Save Quickload Save Quickload Save Quickload Save Quickload Save Quickload Save Quickload Save Quickload Save Quickload Save Quickload Save Quickload Save Quickload Save Quickload Save Quickload Save Quickload Save Quickload Save Quickload Save Quickload Save Quickload Save Quickload Save Quickload Save Quickload Save Quickload Save Quickload Save Quickload Save Quickload Save Quickload Save Quickload Save Quickload Save [/b]

to get to the "stealthy" playthrough....

As annoying as it can be at times, it's still 100% worth your time and holds up extremely well today. Give it a try!

!!!!SPOILERS AHEAD WATCH OUT!!!!!

I will say, I really wasn't a fan of both endings, yeah sure if you read all of the texts you find in the game you can tell it's coming but it's still stupid how it ends. Everyone is afraid of Corvo and getting executed even if you do a good ending and wish to see Emily on the throne. To add to that, the last 2-3 missions absolutely SUCK they feel rushed together and trying to do a low-chaos/good ending are very aggravating to play through. Not a dealbreaker at all but you'll understand when you get to that part of the game....

As of 24 October 2024 this game is 100% UNPLAYABLE. Anytime you start a new game from the main menu you will be greeted with a black screen, you can't do anything not even alt + f4 will save you, you'll have to restart your entire PC to get out of it.

It's a mixed bag

Pretty neat to build some stuff, but its really simplistic. Wanna build a bridge? Be ready to watch a 10+ minute youtube video to be able to do it. I will give it a recommendation just because of how beautiful it is, but don't expect to be able to place props and all that, be prepared to have to learn how to tweak/abuse the game systems to build what you want.

"Bare bones + linear design + pure beauty" is what you should expect from this program.

Mediocre with it's game engine. Numerous small problems that plague the game to this day like not detecting USB/Bluetooth headsets for binural audio and crashing when alt/tabbing out of it. Kind of sad, rebellion sucks at making a good game.

Thank God they made nearly 80$ worth of DLC for this game through the years and IGNORED ALL OF THE BUGS PLAGUING THE GAME DURING THAT TIME, what a great company...

Early Access Review
Eh it's a bit too janky for my taste. If you loved games like Easy Red 2, Ravenfield, Verdun/Tannenburg, and/or older battlefield games give it a try, but I wasn't really a fan for how seemingly "low quality" it was as an FPS.
