INFANTRY OVERHAUL UPDATE ON THE BOTTOM

Tencent says "Microtransactions!"
I say "No."

the original devs officially promised to never add any additionally paid content / DLCs. the new owners are going to implement exactly that very soon.

it's a great tactical shooter trading off some realism for balanced gameplay. it's NOT a milsim, to qualify as a sim a lot of systems and actual physics would need to be implemented and i don't see that happening by the amount of known bugs that have been in the game since release and have not been fixed yet nor will they ever be.

now they want players to pump even more money into their cavities, so they can concentrate on creating dorito skins and copy dances from other games.

even IF the initial free emote pack will only contain realistic tactical hand gestures (which you can already find in the games files), there are only so many of them. and what do you think will come for the paid ones?

0 likes and 1600+ comments on the update announcement post speak for themself.

EDIT: they're showing off the emotes in another news post and who would have thought, they aren't tactical gestures at all, just plain stupid emotes. they expect you to pay 9 bucks to get all the currently announced emotes.

if anyone still doesn't get why this is bad: this is pandoras box and they opened it, from now it can only get worse.

RIP squad

INFANTRY OVERHAUL EDIT:
29.09.2023

welcome to a typical rushed OWI update, here's the main points of criticism:

- spaghetti arms gunplay (soldier to weak to hold weapon stable when slowly moving)
- extreme asthmatics stamina and movement speed
- trained soldiers suddenly incapable of climbing a wall that they could easily reach with their hands
- PIP scopes decrease performance significantly
- overall performance loss due to unoptimized new blur effects that can not be turned down (supression effect, out of focus weapon when moving while not aiming)

plus a lot of confused ppl thinking this overhaul is OWI's push towards more realism, when it is literally the exact opposite.

don't get me wrong here, i liked the idea of making the gunplay more realistic and make supression matter, so LMGs would be used more like they are in the real world. but this is 1 step forward and 10 steps back.

OWI does not have a roadmap so they don't have to deliver things unfinished on deadlines, yet they still decide to do exactly that. no one was expecting the IO to drop one week after that last playtest, cause it never felt anywhere close to ready. they could have worked another 1-2 months on it to polish out the issues, but no.
