Game ran smooth besides X-Ray at higher tiers. It would tank FPS.

It was scary, it was random, the prox chat was super enjoyable. Honestly? A super good pick up. Definitely try playing with randoms also.

This was such an enjoyable experience.

If you're into survival games, interesting mechanics & games like raft. This one is definitely for you.

Keep in mind there are some issues with desyncing and bugs every now and then like going to areas and the quest doesn't proceed. These small issues can be fixed by saving and reloading the save.

Honestly enchanted with this game. I love the voicing. I love the characters. The mechanics. All of it make it an awesome game.

TLDR; As the game stands, this game is not worth getting into it as a newer player who hasn't tried the game out prior. You will be thrown into hard lobbies of experienced players who will show no mercy. If you're the type to keep a cool head, definitely check the game out!

So here is the problem from a day 1 Discord launch vet of Last Year on this current version.

The game you're playing is from the update of Last Year: The Nightmare. This version of the game condenses the maps to be linear and less free to roam around and split the killer's attention. Why is this important? Because newer players are stuck in tiny rooms to try and learn while Killers can trap up the entire hallway leading to kills insanely quickly.

The discord Last Year had big open maps which let students and killers be creative. You could split the attention of the killer by doing the objective or running off and getting some scrap. Letting the students not only build effectively but learn the game at a nice pace. The killers definitely need a little bit more to them in the discord version so they aren't super kiteable. BUT MAN does Last Year: The Nightmare OVER DO IT. I'm talking the slasher guy has this matrix dash that let's him EASILY catch up to any student he's chasing and destroy you. This guy normally have more stamina than the students. If anything give him a short speed buff, but an instant gap closer.

If you are someone looking to test the waters of the game, wait and see what this new team does with Last Year. It's a great game but I believe they brought back the wrong version of the game. The old developers made mistakes of getting to this point with the game and it immediately died. It will unfortunately happen again unless some quick changes happen.

I can't stop playing it. It has so much depth to it. A little jank but it's Early Access launch. The game is.. it's just addicting. I CAN'T STOP.

QoL & Optimizations are going to do super well for the game.

Hoping for more unique and brain tugging cases in the future. Mod support is going to be wild.

EDIT: Still having a good time. However people running with their Tier 5 ultimates definitely makes the game not feel fair. Definitely some beginners experience Quality of Life needs to be done. Tutorial also needs some work.

Looks like a lot of the issues people had with the game was resolved. Seems like there is Pay-To-Progress but I'm alright to waive that.

It seems the only thing that really needs to be looked at is more content, more glamour and to keep their heads down while they work away. The player base definitely needs to recover from the whole Steam review thing.

Solid Gears game. Enjoyed it thoroughly.

Honestly avoid this game. The online for this is super broken. They've yet to do any patches to fix connecting with your friends.
Singleplayer I'd recommend but if you're in this to play with your friends. Do not buy this for you and your friends.

I've been having a blast with this game so far. Being Smallfolk and running around taming the wilds and braving the spooky insects at large scales is a very interesting time.

There are some QoL touch ups that need to be done but it seems the devs are very attentive and are listening. Their official discord has a suggestion channel where people can vote on topics to give more visibility to things the community may have concerns or wants with.

The game is not very responsive. 40 MS fights feel like 120 in other proper fighters.
The characters are designed well, except the literal toddlers/babies. I wish they weren't there.
Without rollback netcode and the responsiveness being tidied up.. It's a fun game if you don't plan on spending any money on it.
With how unresponsive it is, you'll find yourself constantly punching in the wrong direction of your auto combos. Smash attacks coming out 0.5 - 0.7 seconds after you've done the input.


On the bright side. A lot of events in the game, quite a few modes, the characters are varied. I do love me some drunken fighting as Tong.
