- Probably not for Hardcore D&D enthusiasts

A fun romp in the D&D world, if you have been hankering to get back into a game that is based on D&D with the lore and
characters that you remember than this is for you, you can recreate your favourite character from your tabletop game and
head off into the dungeons and cities of the Sword Coast once again.

Its easy to get into and wont overwelm those of you who have never sat down and had to pour over the Players Handbook
page for page, but for those of you who still love the lore and have possibly had a quick look through a friends
Players Handbok or the Bestiary and thought to yourself that you might want to actually play it someday but only got as far as creating a pen and paper character.

I dont have time to organise with friends to play this together, so I have not tried it as a party of player created hereos, I have
enjoyed what i have played so far with my half-elf ranger and fully expect to replay again with another character.

Enjoy the game for what it is, not what other people say it isnt.

I loved the combat, most encounters need every turn thought out to counter the enemies abilities or their resistances to the elements or enhance your abilities and attacks. The story is interesting, what starts out as a murder investigation progresses to deep and involving narrative.

The side quests are a decent diversion from the main story line and enhance the overall structure of the game. This is all presented by stunning visuals, from beautiful gardens to sandy beaches to forests and desert regions, every area you encounter will have something that you just want to take a screenshot of and use as a desktop wallpaper.

I only really had a problem following the quest journal towards the end of the game, I had reached a certain point and the quest journal did not point me in the correct direction, this may of been caused by me not triggering a certain event, which then stopped my progression until I went back and finished off another area, which I thought I had concluded but had not, (another reason the quest journal fell down).

I didnt like the crafting mechanics, you can combine items in your inventory to enhance your armour or make potions etc but to do this you need a certain level of crafting or blacksmithing (the level is unkown until you successfully complete the item)
which l feel could be better thought out so you can plan your level points.

The crafting recipes are trial and error, you do find books in the world which explain some basic crafting recipes but the majority will be trial and error, I would prefere the recipes to be recorded in your journal somewhere and then when you have the correct ingriedients, just click on that recipe in the journal to craft it, the age of writing down recipes has long gone with the grid mapping, they have the automap why not crafting.

The game length is about right, I took around 80 hours to complete, and enjoyed it, I will replay the game but am waiting for some news on DLC or expansion, I would like to continue with my current characters as I have invested many hours in them.

Great Game, play it on 'Master' Difficulty for the best playthrough.

Excellent story line, great characters, meaningful choices with outcomes that effect the way you progress, very enjoyable game. (*note that this is based on the comics not the AMC TV show)

Easily my favourite Modern RPG, I've spent hours playing and replaying as different classes and characters, the DLC is also worth a play through with a character from the original as some of your actions and conversation choices carry through and makes it feel more personal.

The story is well written and there is a depth and a life to the world, which can be found in the detailed books and descriptions of equipment.
