Cleared the first one with 100% achievements and 100 of hours on it. Played this one for a little more than 50 minutes and I don't think I'll ever touch the second one again. Why is it so hard for company these day to fix the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ thing before they start selling it I wonder.

Will change the review if it ever get better (highly doubt that it will ever happen).

Waited 10 years just to be disappointed.

- Making weeky farming more and more tedious but releasing new character every other week
- Nerfing character even though it's a single player game
- Extremely complicate game mechanic with steep learning curve but make little to no effort to teach you how to play it
- Story that make you feels like you need to buy and play other games to understand.

Completed Canto V (latest story chapter) as of the writing of this review.
Even after sinking 60+ hours into this game I still can't recommend this game to anyone.

There's still some bugs and jankiness here and there that can affect your play through a lot. My main save is corrupted forever because of the Daedalus black book's bug, which lock me out of a secret ending as well as some achievements unless I start a new save. Yeah no I'm not gonna dump another 10+ hours for that, not when it might happen again.

However, It is excellent for what it aim to be aka a "King's field inspired game" so I'll still recommend this game. For a game made entirely by one person, this game is impressive enough.

this game is a single player rpg. that's mean you will be alone in your journey most of the times(like skyrim,witcher,etc). the combat in this game are also heavily build to be 1v1 friendly, that's mean if you fight 2 or more people you gonna get ♥♥♥♥♥♥ hard, which is realistic right?

then the game start to throwing 2+ enemies at you all the time(like 90% at the times)
ok ok that was understandable, life can be cruel i know there is no way the enemies would venturing alone in this dangerous waring time that the event in this game setting in. everybody gonna need someone to watch their back no matter if they're a bandit or a soldier. So then we'll have to find other a way to deal with this problem right?

Wait that's not right is it? how about hiring some muscle? recruiting some squad members or something. The developer wants the main protagonist to be this exquisite jack of all trade soldier who could deal with all problems, so they make us do a ridiculous jobs like rescuing someone in the hunting ground alone, fighting a bunch of fully armed and armored soldiers. a situation that nobody in real life would've went into alone. hiring people is acceptable right?

OK... so this wouldn't be much of a problem if they let us do stealth properly right? setting up a traps, super sneaky stealth kill them all one by one or something right? If they're gonna make 1v2+ this cancerous then let us have EFFECTIVE myriads of way to avoid frontal combat right?

The AI in this game is soooo ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ janky that you can't rely on any other tactics at all. i got clothes with lowest visibility possible and my stealth are at maxed level yet they saw me instantly anyway. Because realistically anybody with an eye would see a man all dress in black hiding in a thick shadow of the forest while they're standing in bright sunlight right? RIGHT???

Ok thats was frustrating... hours of grinding that skill down the drain but at least i can snipe them from afar right? because the standard equation of combat in all history is enemy = bad, so enemy = should stay away right? its not like we invent a long pointing stick that is soooo effective we used it since we're just a cave man and it become ours principal of weaponry right? (Imo gun is just a really really long spear isn't it?)

I also got maxed archery skill level with the best bow available but i cant one shot them, The arrow also fly with the speed of an old man(Seriously you sprint faster than the arrow). They also know instantly where the arrow are coming from, i guess they see the arrow's trail lmao talk about realistic right? real life arrow have trail right???
Whats the deal with that? isn't long bow suppose to be able to penetrate at least light lamellar armor? isn't nerfing up the bow make this game UNREALISTIC HHHHMMMMMMMMMMM????

If they gonna make 1vMany this unbearable because of rEaLiStiC then give us another effective ways to deal with that for f*ck sake. Real life choice isn't this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ limited. Bet this game would be a lot more tolerable if they just give us 1 or 2 human companion. on the artistic side this game isn't bad at all too. the town are beautifully historical accurate, the landscape are beautiful, think about the potential of this game come onnnnnnnnnnnnn.

Whats the deal dev? did you forgot you're making a game and not European history simulator mid way into developing this game?

Was really exited when they announce that this game will get a steam version, i thought we'll get a dedicate server and localization with multiple languages or something. but it turned out you just used your steam account to download, register and play this game directly to JP server.
To be honest. If you do not understand Japanese then this version probably not worth it for you. Cyberstep do have the translated version from back when they still open this game on different servers and regions, i'm certain of that because i used to play this game all the time when i was a kid. Idk if its because of coding difficulty, license problem or they just don't want to invest a new server for this old game. It's a shame because i love this game and i doubt we'll get the translated version in the future as well.

Frustrating, blood pumping, exhausting, dizzy as f*ck adrenaline filled bullet hell game that feels more like a self torturing device than a game (most of the time).i ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ love it

The game is not for casual player AT ALL don't let those cartoony look and funny art style fool you, its a challenging game and a BRUTAL one at that. if you're a sore loser like me you gonna have a real difficult time playing this game. i manage to cleared through all of the stage in under 20 hours out of pure luck and i saw some other people that aren't even close to beating the game yet after 200 hours and that is the norm here, you cant just say hurr durr git gud NO you do not have the right to say that not until you experienced this game.

The RNG in this game is real and it's merciless, most of the time you'll have to make do with what you got because the game will never give you what you want and OH BOY you will FEEL your brain cells committing suicide every time the game gave you those f*cking wet noodle of a guns. i have had a run where i got only passive items and 1 other guns before, and i was deep down to stage 4(out of all 5 stages) already. at that time i am sure that even myself from the parallel universe can feel the heat that radiated out of my head. So in short real sweat gaming are kinda require here..

This game is ruthless if you died once you go back all the way to the ฺbeginning, there is no real save point there is no checkpoint for you to continue, you have to start it all over from the beginning, And although there is a shortcut that will let you bypass most of the stages, if you took those shortcut you will lose the advantage of building up your arsenal from beating those previous stages, gaining those gears most of the time are very vital for the run. Also unlocking the shortcut is the stuff of nightmare those unlock requirement such as kill the boss without getting hit even once in this bullet hell game will make you lose your sanity for sure.

Overall i f*cking love it 10 out of 10 game. there is a time where you play to relax and there is a time where you play to win. this is the time TO WIN. This sh*t is the perfect game to stroke your ego. I BEAT THE GAME AND THOSE B*TCH ASS BOSSES WITH THEIR BIG FAT BULLET HELL GUNS CANT EVEN HIT ME EVEN ONCE! what's your excuse? GIT GUD F*CKER!

TLDR :Game sucks. i rant a lot and feels like it's L4D2 but with no guns, lootbox style system, and a lots and lot of grinding

Oh boy where do i start
My friend bought this for me to play together a while ago. but because of the quarantine i decide i want to try this game again after a couple of months.
Every characters are fun and interesting. they will banter each other while you playing and it was very interesting to listen to. Game play is very fun, you can bash those filthy rats to kingdom f**k all days long and still wanted more.

The game feels like a big L4D2 mod. Many of those special mob are exactly the same as L4D2 (ex. Hunter,Smoker etc)
The game also encourage you to use melee weapon by giving you very little ammo, think of this game like Left 4 dead but you will have to use your guns only for special enemy because the game punish you HARD if you used up all of your ammo, in this game only special mob will attack you from afar so if you have no ammo to shoot them? though sh*t.

The melee in this game also SUCK FAT SWEATY BALL. I know it contradict my point when i say its fun to hit those mob so let me explain. When you first play this you'll find that the mob are quite easy to dispose and it was really enjoyable to kill them all.
But as the time goes by and you are hitting a new level you will descent further more and more into the hell itself

The mob will constantly getting stronger while you're not. Your weapon start to hit them like a wet noodle, your skill will deal jacks sh*t damage while they will rip out your spine in a couple of seconds.
If you want a better loot because your old weapons are basically garbage now you will have to up the difficulty

it will take you a lifetime to grind all the weapons and trinket to the point that you can deal good damage again because you will die over and over again and again because those difficulty are beyond you at this point so good luck if you don't have some over level player to carry you.

BUT what if i told you that when you start getting bored of one character because all you do is grind and you want to try something new? THOUGH SH*T cuz you have to grind it all over again when you change character. All the character have their own weapons, perks, level and classes BUT NONE OF THEM FEELS SO MUCH DIFFERENT FROM THE OTHER.
While the skill are clearly all different from each other, all the perks will give you ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ bonus like 10 percent damage(ammo, health etc) bonus.

You may think it's not too bad but let me tell you like this.
Example mob have 30 health and you deal 10 damage. so plus 10 percent will make you deal 11 damage right? SO WHAT IS THE F**KING POINT OF IT WHEN YOU STILL HAVE TO HIT IT 3 TIME TO KILL IT JUST LIKE BEFORE.

But wait! there's more! The developer also thinks 10 percent bonus is too generous so you will have to clear certain task like doing head shot to activate that HERCULES MUSCLE GOD ALMIGHTY POWER 10 percent bonus FOR 10 SECONDS.
Or or give you 30 ammo for headshotting special mob, good luck doing that when your party member stealing all your kill cuz they too needs that KINGLY JESUS WALKING ON WATERY MOSES POWER OF DIVIDING THE AMAZON RIVER OR SOMETHING I DONT CARE IM NOT A CHRISTIANLY 10 percent power up. GOD I HATE THIS GAME. The game feels sooooo good at first WHY? WHY DID GOD FORSAKING ME.

And dont make me talk about how all of your weapons are luck base because you will have to open lootboxes to get a good one and you will never have enough resources to craft all the item that you need or rolling stat because the drop will never be enough OH MY F ING GOD UGHAHJSAHDKASHD im gonna have a stroke at this point.

The server are never stable. You, your host or team mate always disconnect when you finish a round
I also crashed or stuck in a loading screen a lot despite this game ages. Some bugs are never fixed but when the moment we found some good build or META those developer nerf it to hell faster than Barry Allen because god forbid us having fun playing this game.

This game is bloated with what i call artificial play time grinding. the cosmetic are also lackluster and not worth grinding (Only the helmet are different than each others. the skins is just different color)
i also play Warframe for 2000 hours grinding the ♥♥♥♥ out of that game. it took me 2000 hours to get boring.while this game take me 30 hours to make me want to kill myself every time my friends ask me to play with him. and guess what? im still playing Warframe now.
I cleared all of the Dark Souls game but never was i feels so much ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ difficulty as this game
This game exhaust me to the point that i need to take a rest from gaming and go do an extra house chores to cope with boredom instead of playing game holy sh*t.
if you have nothing to do because of COVID-19 go play left 4 dead 2 instead and save yourself from this boring sh*t.

BTW sorry for my bad English and all the DLC sucks don't buy them.

EDIT: Just spend around an hour in the new mirror defense mode just for it to bugged out during mission complete screen, every loots that I grind for in that session is gone because of it. Issued a ticket to the dev for help. They replied "No we won't do anything about it".

This is not the first time, this has happened during the Duviri incarnon farm (2 hours), Gauss disruption farm (around an hour), T4 defense (2 hours).This problem will never go away and they will not help you.

2500+ hours I've sunk into this game as of the writing of this review.
in my opinion this game already past its golden era, a bit older now at this point and it started to show that this game almost reach the limit engine and idea wise. I still recommend this game to anyone who's willing to try this game out.
But always bear this in mind to only play this game IF (and that's a big if) you have a lot of spare time, because the grinding and the new content power creep will never ever stop.

A lot of game breaking bugs too, especially when new content drop. Been playing this game on and off for almost a decade and its always like this every single time. some of the bugs from a few years ago still here too and i already given up hope of it getting fix.

What this mean is the dev will always focus on making newer content rather than fixing existing problems. as long as its not too game breaking, it will probably never get fixed. So even though this game constantly adding new game content, be prepare for a half ass update that is always full of bugs and will certainly be left to gather dust in a few months as the dev continue to pursue another "look cool but actually a nothing burger" newer content.

it is always been like this and it will never change.
