Best sandbox game I ever played. The only thing the other reviews haven't covered is that the OST is so underrated. Similar to Risk of Rain's. I feel like people don't appreciate it as much in roguelikes because you so often hear just the first song on repeat (the mines). The guitar in the jungle biome makes it my favourite place in the entire game.

The best multiplayer game on steam

Super grindy and has one of the worst communities, you won't have to play long before you get your share of hate. However the chasing gameplay is so fun at its core. It has a huge skill ceiling whilst still being unbalanced enough that you never have to blame yourself for a bad game. One of the most addictive games ever conceived.

Unfortunately I can never finish this game because I have the same crashes as others report, I wish it hadn't waited until I was half way through to begin doing this. Ubisoft is infamous for poorly maintaining their older games and this one is no exception.

Banished to the shiny dimension, where everyone's nose is just drawn on, you play a shy Japanese girl in the most gripping romance story of all time. Beautiful poetry, brick dropping action, and a nasty senpai clogging the toilet. This is a video game.

The OST is killer, the game itself is meh, the dev sucks.

Has a couple bugs at launch but the devs are great and I foresee they will be patched quickly, once you actually get into the game the number of UI improvements and the seamless design of it all feels great. It takes the raw ideas of universe and refines it with a sleeker design and more consideration for gameplay. I will be playing this for a long time to come.

The greediest most overpriced game that there ever was.

Pros:
+ The remaster looks so good with the enhanced graphic pack, and integrating mixed race units that reflect where they've been is such a genius idea and fits the ethos of the setting so perfectly.

+ The devs are incredibly fan-base oriented, they have worked hard to keep everything as it was while improving only the parts that needed to be. I have no doubts that most of the initial bugs will be fixed very fast. Most of the problems are from not improving enough, but their light touch is appreciated.

+ If this game and all the dlcs are not enough for you right now, the modding support for this game is crazy good. Unless I am missing something this is probably going to be THE total war that attracts most mods going forward. They have done this probably to give it more longevity than a regular remake and also perhaps to draw modders away from their big selling Warhammer series but still it is great for me.

Cons

- The pathing! They haven't fixed it, in my first siege a unit immediately glitched and got stuck on the walls. And clicking and dragging positions while paused doesn't work sometimes. This doesn't seem like a bug, but like the same engine limitations that the original rome had. Such a shame.

- The UI redesign is better than the original by a little bit, however it has scaling issues and some screens like family tree and retinue exchange are ridiculously convoluted!

-Barbarians still only go up to level 3 ! This is the number one most well known problem with the base game and they didn't fix it! Why? It makes playing as barbarians a) more repetitive and b) INCREDIBLY annoying to play late game since if you take a town thats level 3, 4 or 5 you must demolish it all to the ground to remove the culture penalty. Of all the things, this should have been step one in your design phase.

- The "new" factions are the exact same as the old game. But in the old game, they weren't supposed to be playable, so they have extremely small unit rosters. This makes them all tedious to play aside from memes, like Scythia's horse archers. Especially since they're all barbarian factions which compounds with the problem of the point above. I know its a remaster and not a remake but they could have copy pasted some basic barb units to fill them out a little if they're marketed as "Playable" now.

- It's of no consequence but the achievements are pointlessly grindy. You need to play every single faction of every single dlc twice to get them all. Twice is too much guys. Once you've beaten the long version you've essentially beaten the short version too... whoever is going for 100% cheevs, you're going to suffer.

All in all, extremely troubled remake! But I still hope this dev team does more. And patches this buggy mess.
