Just completed my first but definitely not last playthrough. If you liked Life is Strange 1 or Before the Storm you will love this game too.

Pretty short. Coming from someone who played Man of Medan it's basically the same idea with new characters and a new map.

I played the german version and there were a handful of bugs, mostly audio switching from one language to another mid sentence, multiple times. The Story itself was pretty interesting up until the ending. I was actually quite entertained by it and wondered what was going on myself. The "you have doppelgangers in the past and what happens to them, happens to you" sorta style was pretty awesome. This feeling left me instantly in the end when The game revealed that you are playing as the kid from the opening and you just imagined everything. They've done the same thing in Man of Medan but this time more subtle. Still a pretty huge letdown. It doesn't even make sense, why would the kid from the beginning burn down the house by itself, even when we clearly saw a ghostly figure in the opening.

The game itself is pretty lackluster. The only scares you get are jumpscares. Outside of cutscenes nothing really happens. You even get a popup within the cutscene telling you to "prepare" to press a button. You don't even need to pay attention to the game at all because it gives you a notification whenever something happens that needs your action.

It's definitely an improvment over Man of Medan, but for such an easy game there are way better alternatives

Starts slowly and introduces you to everything you need to know. Gets way harder quickly. Perfectly balanced between fun and challenging

I played the original game back on the Gamecube and it was a wonderful experience. The world was really immersive for its time and one of the best plattformer back in the old era.

This remaster is a wonderful rehydration of the old experience. Graphics and animations are done beautifully and if you would take away the HUD, it would look straight out of a new Spongebob movie.

That said, the game has numerous bugs and visual quirks that take away of things that were immersive back then. I completed the game (up to the Spongebob bossbattle, not 100%) and I encountered numerous and partly game breaking bugs.

-Enemies spawned from a Duplicator don't have any visual spawning que, the can hits the ground and the enemy instantly pops up, it looks bad.
-There is fog all around Bikini Bottom, not sure why this is a thing since it doesn't really hide anything and just looks like a thin semi-transparent layer. Without it the game would look way better.
-Sometimes, bubbles don't appear around spatulas.
-Some animations are done really smoothly, like Patrick's jumping animation, other animations however look almost laggy like when Spongebob picks up a spatula.
-In the Robo-Patrick bossfight, right when the second stage hit. My Robo-Patrick was outside of the playable area, but managed to glitch itself back into default position. From then on however I wasn't able to damage him anymore and needed to reset the mission.

I can't judge the multiplayer since it seems like no one is playing it right now.

Despite all this flaws the game is still a great and new way to play the game. For fans looking to play there favorite game again this is an absolute must buy. I just hope that Purple Lamp is continuing to work on this game and patch out all issues.

Kleine Animations- und Steuerungprobleme aber ansonsten gelungene Umsetzung von Konsole auf PC
