It's basically American football with guns, but the ball is a cute robot lady that gives you wallhacks when you hold her snugly.

The world is neatly interconnected but fast-travel points are spaced out to give some respite. The areas are maze-like so they feel larger than they really are. If the visuals don't ooze atmosphere the sound design certainly will; with fitting music to the areas and environmental sound effects that will make your hairs stand on end. The combat is solid but nothing revolutionary. Spells are pretty basic along with some cool navigational aids. Using the right elemental damage type can make fights much easier. Reading books laying around is most of the lore and story you'll get along with having clues for some shortcuts or progression so don't pass those up. If you don't mind experimenting, exploring, and getting lost every once in awhile, this is an amazing time and easily worth the asking price.

The shooting is cool and all but battering ram pvp is where this thing shines.

Imagine instead of writing Shakespeare you get 50 monkeys together to create and execute a military operation against another 50 monkeys.

Welcome to Squad.

As far as what this is right now, it is a fun and rewarding experince skulking through maps and finding dudes to shoot while communicating with your fellow players.

The mechanics are smooth and the shooting feels decent, with switching stances or switching which sight your looking through being pretty immersive and seamlessly integrated. You do feel like a proper tacticool dude rather than a clunky tank while still being realistic. Having three speeds of movement is nice so its not just walking or sprinting which helps moving quickly from one room to another while clearing corners and what not.

The customization is great although not really having too much of a impact on gameplay other than what you take with you and what you don't. Making guns is fun and addicting but you soon realize one loadout can be used for all missions so wish there was incentive for making specialized loadouts for certain scenarios. Most people just use a M16, M4 variant with all the bells and whistles on it becasue the other guns just can't utilize them. Although i'm sure they will be more versions of firearms and attachments as the game progresses. I especially enjoy using the mp5 variants.

Missions are pretty straight forward, pick a spawn, hope some other people spawn with you, kill all the guys. While the a.i. isn't anything special they are at least able to move and do cause some tense surprise moments. They also keep shooting after you peek and go to cover stopping peeking over and over just to land a headshot. Getting shot at is proper scary!

Overall if your willing to accept that this is a work in progress and will be improved later on, it's fun. But if your expecting it to be great experience right now, I think you will burn yourself out on the small offering here currently.

You can throw seeds at people and it'll grow a little tree out of their head.

With a little research into building mechs and what is a good first mech to buy for your playstyle this is a pleasant unique game that if it looks interesting to you won't disappoint. The trial mechs are good enough to get you started but buying your first mech and configuring it to your liking can quickly erase all that money you earned with the free premium time that you get with a new account. Building mechs is easy enough but making them actually viable is a whole other story. I suggest anyone wanting to try this game is to watch some tutorials and don't worry about buying a mech for themselves unless they research if it is something that would be fun for them or at least not a waste. Gameplay is pretty simple to grasp on the surface but it is anything but simple with all the weapons and gadgets that just about everyone uses. I suggest just keeping close to your team at all times and trying to support them till you grasp things like flanking or if your into light mechs how to properly harass with them. After your premium time is up grinding for cash quickly becomes a problem as some mechs have a hefty price especially if your into big hulking assualt or some heavy mechs. But if you can see past that and looking for a fun unique experience to dive into or just casually play once in awhile this is a winner in my book and for the price of free has been a joy to play.
