Resident Evil: Revelations 2 is a good game and if you are a fan of Resident Evil you will certainly enjoy the ride. Revelations 2 takes place between RE5 and 6 and ties in strongly to the main story arche of the series. Without any spoiler I will say the events will effect future titles. It was done very well and ties up a few loose ends.

Revelations 2 puts the player in the shoes of two fan favorite characters, Claire Redfield and Barry Burton (star characters from the first two games) who each has their respective partner. Claire has Barry's daughter Moira Burton as her partner and Barry has the mysterious new charater Natalia to accompany him. Claire and Barry will handle the majority of the action while Moira and Natalia will provide much needed support. You can swap between both the main and support character at anytime during the game while the AI will control the other character (think RE0 if you have played that before). The combat is extremely fluid and very addicting once you get the hang of character swapping.

Speaking of combat, this is not RE6. The ammo in this game is far more scarce and you must stun an enemy before you can melee (much like re4 and 5). You will want to use your ammo wisely to make sure you do not run out, which will happen if you go in blazing. A new feature in this game is an MMO style skill system that you can level up with Battle Points you earn for completing chapters. This allows you to specialize your character in certain areas to make them more effecient to your playstyle. If you are a fan of this costumization system you can look forward to spending many hours in Raid mode after completing the main story. In this mode you can choose between many different characters and level them up in a dungeon style setting while acquiring new weapons and skills along the way.

A few of the settings in the game are unsettling, especially the prison where the game begins. However several of the areas can become bland fast and this is one of the games true weak spots. There are some very unique enemies, however there is not a large variety. The Revenants will surely creep you out when you first meet them.

~To sum up; If you are a fan of Resident Evil you should buy this game. It has a very relevant story and some long missed characters. It has a much stronger focus on the survival aspect than more recent titles in the series. The lack of enemy variety and the bland scenery are the most obvious downsides. You do get a lot of content for the price of the game, especially if you plan on sinking time into the bonus modes.~
