It's like Dark Souls, but you can build a shed with the boys

Great game if you're a Tolkien fan or just vibe more with an oldschool MMO feeling.

While not quite as dated as say EQ1, LOTRO is certainly stuck in the past with a lot of aspects of the game. That can be a positive or negative depending who you are. I think it does add some charm to the game, butit certainly could use a modern touch in some areas like the UI & animations. While there is a remaster in the works, there's no ETA when that'll be coming (2023 hopefully!). Another issue is the server lag. I haven't experienced much of an issues outside of maybe 2-3 quick lag spikes every few hours, however those not located in NA seem to get hit hard in this area which is unfortunate.

Besides the faults with the game, it's still super fun and immersive. Class design is pretty solid overall (Some lines need some love), Combat is enjoyable if you're okay with something a little slower paced. World design and storytelling is top notch and really the strong suite of the game. The PvE content is also quite fun, but the old stuff isn't really ran much.

If you're looking for an MMO or just a game in general to get immersed in Middle-Earth this is THE game for that. If you want a more endgame driven MMO for raids & PVP this may not be the best place, while the raiding is good here it's not supported as much as WoW for example and there is a hefty grind required if you plan to tackle T3+ content. But if you are a Tolkien fan and a raider? This is a dream game for us! Nothing feels quite as epic as raiding against a Balrog or Saruman (Yes they're old raids, still epic!).
