Great game that I can't recommend. The MAX fov is absolutely tiny. You feel like you're always looking through binoculars. Add this to the movements of the ship, and the chaos of running around doing pirate stuff, and this game gives me a headache in 15 minutes or less. I would love to love this game, but simply can't play without feeling sick. I've tried all the workarounds. This game was designed to be played on a very large, very wide TV while sitting on a couch very far away. This doesn't bother some people, but proceed with caution if this sounds like it would give you trouble. I'll come back and enjoy the hell out of this one once the max fov is inceased.

Just doing my part and leaving a positive review for this fantastic game. This game makes me feel like I'm 15 again. This is the perfect game for anyone with a mechanical inclination or interest in engineering.

The best purchase I've made on steam in a long while.

The combat is great, really satisfying and has a lot of depth to it. There is a lot to learn about not only the attacking portion of the combat but also the defensive portion, there are many ways to hit the other guy and many ways to avoid being hit yourself so mastering all of them and knowing when to use them and finally pulling off that slash chamber morph in a frontline match is fantastic. Character customization is great. No microtransactions. The weapon customizations and skins are really awesome and make your weapon feel unique. Many different ways to play that aren't just chopping guys down. You can build your guy to be cavalry, anti-cavalry, healer, defence builder, archer, siege engineer, or just a good old knight.

I feel like a lot of the stuff mentioned in negative reviews is overblown. I've had no problems with the servers. I've had no problems with running the game on my meh tier computer (GTX 960 and an i5). The community is toxic but what do you expect, and there are lots of ways to either mute someone or boot them out of the server. ANY time someone has been racist or a troll or an ass in general and a vote gets called they 110% get kicked because the other 23 people on the team don't want to entertain trolls. There are also community servers which are super relaxed and social, if you're sick of frontline.

Only thing that needs balancing is the horses. The damage boost the rider receives when the horse is moving activates when the horse is moving waaay too slowly, like barely faster than walking, and having your parry cancelled from being body-checked by the horse needs to be removed.

Overall awesome game.

This was terrible. Nothing ever happens. The only thing that happens is one stupid jump scare. The fact that it doesn't have a save function makes it even more of a slog and without the option to put it down it feels like you get cheated out of your time. Pass on this one.

Rift's content can easily be sorted by whether or not it is locked behind a paywall. As of 3/1/2016 here is a simple guide to what content is locked and what isn't.

Not Behind a Paywall
-Main story line
-Rifts
-Zone Events
-All zones and areas
-Low level dungeons
-Low level PvP

Behind a Paywall
-Dungeons (or all the fun ones, at least)
-PvP warfronts (or all the fun ones)
-Gear slots (no, im not kidding)
-Raids
-Auction house

Ask yourself, would an MMO feel complete with no dungeons, PvP, raids, or auction house? I'd personally say no. Trion has been slowly pushing their fingers into the player's wallet, and as of recent its gotten out of control. I used to love this game, but when I saw that dungeons which I used to be able to participate were locked, and even gear slots which I willingly bought were unavailable to me because I wasn't a 'patron', I had enough of trino's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. I very happily spent $60 on this free game on my own terms, and to see that I was locked out of content was laughable. Great stuff trino.
