Dead Space is a classic sci-fi horror. I don't like 3d person view, in particular when the player's own body blocks the action. While I still don't like 3d Person view in Dead Space, I do understand why they chose to go that way. Your body is a character in this game, showing the hurt and weight of damage and attacks from the various horrors. The combat is a bit sluggish, but that also adds to the terror. The thudding of your metal boots and the sussuration of impending madness while expecting at any time a mutilated corpse composite to appear. Panic can be measured in rounds of wasted ammunition. Excellent game.
