The Forest is one of those games who just amazes you. I was a bit skeptical about this game when friends were telling me about it. But once we started playing, i was just amazed, the game really surprised me how good the concept is.

Very few games get the survival element right, but The Forest did it. And the idea behind it is pretty good, and unconventional, instead of random monsters which are out of this world and zombies, you are surviving against canniballs and against "An experiment gone wrong" type of enemies. The base building is easy and straight forward, but also complex, where you can make pretty much anything if you dont mind helping in global warming hehe. They've added a new difficulty for the most hardcore survivial players out there, where any mistake can be fatal. The hunting aspect is really cool, still needs a bit more work i think, or rather more animals to hunt. The map could be bigger, but its pretty good, even more amazing thing would be another map, but im sure it took them a lot of times to make this map, especially the cave system. The cave system is really amazing, and one of the best aspects of the game, the fear of unknown what you can find there is the key element, and also the loot. You could go in a cave, explore for 10 minutes and find a goldmine, or you can explore for an hour and not find anything, so you better be well prepared for the exploration. Overall, a great survival horror game best played with friends, and on a bit harder difficulty.

Definitely one of the favorite games I've played this year. Sure it has its flaws, but every game has it, and also its made by a very small indie team, and big props to them for constantly updating it, and having that "Next big update" timer every time you launch the game on the bottom of the screen, and they actually follow it which is really cool. Great job devs! Keep making this game better and better!

With the full release of the game, much of the game's systems has been added, and a lot of bugfixes improved the game dramatically. They improved game performance significantly while still having stunning visuals if you want to take the scenery to the next level. Can't wait what else they have in mind, maybe something big is coming, only time will tell...
