Currently 79 hours in, had 4 crashes so far, one of which locking up my whole system and subpar performance.

That being said, I have enjoyed those 79 hours immensely, engaging in all the aspects of the game I wanted to engage with and skipping or postponing whatever I didn't feel like doing at the time. Open world nature of the game gives you that choice.

Combat feels good, enemies are nicely varied, areas look stunning (the skyboxes especially are pretty and add a lot of ambiance), the open world, tunnels/dungeons/catacombs and "legacy dungeons" all had their own feel to them and felt like I was in a living world (Legacy dungeons basically being what the old Dark Souls maps were. There's no horse to navigate with and overall tighter area design) and I found the story and questlines so far engaging and interesting.

As mentioned before, the performance on PC is not the best, suffering from frame drops and crashing. Some of the times you end up fighting the same boss designs multiple times, which felt a bit copy pasted, but in some situations it made sense why this design would show up again. And later into the game you start having some bosses/minibosses as basic enemies, which can either feel like "here they go again copy pasting", or feel like "I had problems with this earlier and now it doesn't even deserve the title of a boss".
Both of these feelings came up at least personally.

If the performance was better, would probably give it 10/10.
But with the current performance, personally it stands at a 9/10 or a 9.5/10 on a good day.

A really faithful and masterfully crafted sequel, has all that you'd want out of a kickass Devil May Cry game. One of the things the game nails the most, like the others before it, is the music. The banging synth metal and great vocals just get your heart jumping from combat to combat and makes it all flow beautifully. A little short feeling, taking me 9 hours on the "medium" (Demon Hunter) difficulty, and leaving me wanting for more. Story is fun to follow as a player who has already played DMC games, but might be a bit all over the place for someone new. Combat itself is smooth, there's plenty of customization for different combat things later on and the unlocked endless mode gives some replayability. A solid game overall and a joy after the "reboot" DMC from 2013, which was underwhelming.

So, it has been almost a year since last update. Just putting that on the table straight away.
At least the devs made all the changes to the game before pretty much abandoning it.

UI was made more fitting for PC.
Current meta is decently balanced (seen plenty of that by now, might have some issues and I'm just blind).
Level 3 units got special abilities for the most part, making focusing on developing units more rewarding.
They added the underlords, who add nice variety and aspects you need to think of.
And in between this review and the last, they added variety in the way of choosing talents for your underlord, and also removed this gameplay element, making the talent system simpler, giving you one of two different variations of the underlord, one being usually more aggressive and other defensive.

Marchmaking is still active, and I'm thankful for that.

Game's future is unsure, and hoping that it'll be updated with fresh content. But for the time being, servers being up will have to do.

Development being halted aside, I would still recommend at least trying this game out if you haven't tried autobattlers out, or if you already know you like the genre.

It's the Super Meat Boy with co-op, it's the Broforce with parkour, great game with a campaign and workshop support. Made by one man also so that's cool, hope he makes more in the future
