Alright Helldivers, Major Order Complete.

I am posting this review in response to Sony backtracking on requiring a PSN account for PC players. Review is subject to change if they change their decision again, the initial decision to require a PSN account linked removed the ability for a large portion of the player bases ability to play as PSN isn't available in their country, forcing them to use a VPN to create the account and hope Sony didn't ban them as this was against their TOS.

The game is a lot of fun, lower difficulties are great for learning or casual play, cranking the difficulty up gives a vastly different experience, you stop being the action movie hero and turn to being a starship trooper.

There are still some bugs unfortunately and I hope they're worked on soon, but this game still has lots of promise to be around for a while.

To any Helldivers who posted a negative review because of the Sony account. Please update them to positive for now.

10/10 DLC class is pretty fun too

Made by the devs of some of the best Slay the Spire mods, had to show my support. Game is quite simple to pick up.

Pulls inspiration from games like Dead Cells and other Roguelites, art style is quite fun and the gameplay is quite smooth. While the game is a challenge, the low price point is absolutely worth it.

Spooky scary spider friends sent shivers down my spine. I've never been so afraid of what I thought was only texture tearing.

Is it missing a few things? Sure. But i haven't laughed at what feels like an action rpg banjo kazooie fable game in my life. It doesn't take itself seriously and after spending 11 hours clearing RE: Village this is a nice change of pace.

Protip from a friend, change the narrator to japanese and you end up with anime kungfu panda.

You walk in a circle over and over again. 10/10 better than Death Stranding.

Movement feels tight, enemies are fairly repetitive but the different ability sets feel great, music is upbeat and fun. 8/10 would roll around as a tiny bone boy with a dagger stealing peoples lunch money.

Is this game for everyone? No. Is it a fun game? If you like guns and ending the existence of no name mystery meat hot dogs, then yes.

If anything else in all my years of playing video games from atari till today, I have seldom seen such a transparent dev about what their plans are, what they're working on, its insane. Anton is fairly active in the r/h3vr subreddit and also has uploads on youtube for us every friday. Even if you don't enjoy the game, use this example to support devs you enjoy.

Yes this game is hard, like extremely hard. Yes security doors are a nightmare and having friends over voice will make things easier. You will crouch and walk through dark, foggy areas more than you will walk or run. The audio design is solid, the guns look good, the monsters are really good.

8/10 will get slapped by a thick boi again
