It's time I write something about this.
To keep it short, great game, will be worth your time if you are creative / want a time sink.

The long story |
This game has been in development for a long time and will be for a longer time still. I bought the game back in 2015, and I enjoyed it a lot, there was an engine change to Unreal engine which has helped the graphics quite a bit, as well as some interesting features. There is a learning curve, it’s not that steep in my opinion, but it is very long. Design takes skill and patience, but the discord community and the forums is there to help you. Engineering also isn’t just about getting the highest scores, sometimes that isn’t the most realistic approach, bear that in mind for competitions.

Activities |
The forums is a great place to compete in challenges, from design competitions to engineering and lore competitions, even automation x beam competitions, there's always something going on there to keep you motivated to build new and interesting cars and your brand if you have one.

Updates |
New things from the devs do take a while, but you begin to appreciate how much effort it takes to run a game like this. I don't mind having to wait a while because the game takes a long time to play anyway, building cars trying the new mods and then making new cars again. Yes, I've spent three thousand hours doing that. The main thing keeping the game... playable? is the modding community. They are so fantastic, the things which come to the game because of that is incredible. It helps pass the time in between the big updates the devs do, and it also means there's always something to look forward to.

Read the damn FAQ I beg |

Game development takes a long time, you can always make your numbers up, take them from real life counterparts for your story. It doesn't matter. Some things will make it to the game, some won't. No, you can't mod it in. Enjoy the game for what it is, because there's a lot to enjoy.

Summary |
There are still things coming, and to be honest there's always things that could be added to this game. It's one of those that will never truly be finished. But does that matter? To me, it doesn't. I'm here for the journey and so far, its been great, I've enjoyed every minute of my 3000 hours in the game

Edit After another 1000 hours:

I highly encourage everyone who says "you need Beamng for this to be useful", go check the Automation forums, join the Automation Discord, it brings whole new life to the game because of the community and it's good to have new people join in with the challenges and general lore related things, I'm still playing and will continue to play as long as the challenges keep running and the community wants to talk about their designs and creations. It *will* make you a better player and help you understand the game more, and you can create something which you feel more proud of.

Assetto Corsa is one of the best *sims* out there.

Nearing 2000 hours i can say that you can enjoy this game in many ways, driving around freely with a huge choice of cars which feel super immersive or racing hard on the track. Online is a laugh on the right servers, the only issues you might have is not having enough people tp properly race due to timezones.

Modding support, wow what can i say. It's fantastic, the game provides the perfect base for literally anything you want to mod in, with over 10000 mods available on sites like Racedepartment you can spend hundreds of hours just testing cars.

Personally thats why i haven't bothered with doing achievements or any of the challenges / campaign side, i prefer to use AC as a sim for my own IRL racing. It helps, seriously.

This is a pretty short review, but i'll be honest it is the top of sims at the moment, games like Iracing and Rfactor2 would be a sidestep.

Summary:
BUY THE GAME!!!
