I feel words would only fail to adequately praise the masterpiece that is ASTLIBRA.
Thank you, KEIZO.

So far, a fantastic and faithful modernization of a PSX classic! I'll be real, I played the original ages ago so my memory isn't too sharp. But throughout the years I always considered Star Ocean: Second Story to hold its own among the golden RPG library on the PSX. Let me be the first to say, the way that Gemdrops has blended new with old graphics styles is incredible. It FEELS like the original while looking modern. It's a beautiful thing to see.

The crafting/skill system blew my mind back then, and it has been refined here to great effect. The combat is vastly improved as well, though still fairly basic (no melee combos or chain tech, but you CAN link two skills in sequence later in the game). Support actions via the d-pad are a pretty powerful new addition as well. It's still good fun, and very responsive thanks to high refresh rates. The music too is lovely and has been fully rearranged by the original composer Motoi Sakuraba.

Square and Gemdrops have created something wondrous here with SO2:R, if this is the foundation for future remakes we have much to look forward to.

Forager, now in three dimensions!
This game feels so damn smooth to play, and the parkour movement tech lends itself so well! You can play this game super casual at your own pace, but also at break-neck speeds that will have your M1 screaming in agony. For $15 Outpath is an absolute steal, support this fantastic dev.

Half time/resource management and half learning to defend your base from myriad attackers. The controls are tight, and the constant impending wave forces you to plan efficiently and act quick. Naturally greed will set in throwing all those plans out the window when you hit a motherlode, and you'll rush back up to the base shedding resources like the loot goblin you are. Great game, devs are active in the boards and new content was just recently added.

Minit Fundraiser is a good bite-sized challenge for about the hour or so it takes to complete every "goal". 100% achievements is almost as satisfying as 100% of all proceeds going to charity. Thanks to all involved in this project.

It's a little rough around the edges, and doesn't shine with quite the level of style and polish of the masterpiece that is Persona 5. But if Strikers has anything, it's heart. The music, voices, and design choices make this truly feel like a worthy continuation of the story from P5. I'm willing to overlook the small issues i do have, to go on another adventure with my favorite group of friends...and Ryuji too i suppose. (kidding!)

Being the debut game from Bit Kid, I would rate Chasm higher than some give it credit for. It's not particularly challenging, or deep in its' systems, but what it does offer is a decent little slice of what SotN or Bloodstained did so well. I hope that Bit Kid continues down this path and endeavours to improve upon what they have created here.

The wait was long, but worth it. I would have happily paid 2-3x the asking price for this gem.

Having played this to 100% over the course of a few weeks, I offer that Dragon Quest XI is one of the very best JRPG experiences in recent years (certainly available on PC). The story dances between light and dark tones, as it propells you through its' narrative with an enjoyable battle system that becomes more tactical as both you and your enemies get tougher. The ability to set individual difficulty-enhancing modifiers before you start the game, brings enough challenge for even the most seasoned player to bang their head against. The musical score is great, as you might expect. Though i will admit to supplanting my own for the final post-game grind. Crafting in DQXI is a very simple minigame, but it never becomes a chore even after you figure out the most potent of combinations. The game runs beautifully on my 970/4790k, staying solid at 60fps @max settings, and as a bonus Ansel was quite fun to mess around with and get some halfway decent screenshots from time to time with the unlocked camera.

There's a lot to like about DQXI, so pick it up, get comfy, and try not to lose track of time!
90/100
