Seriously, WTF?!!??!!?

Never, in all of my gaming years, have I played anything quite like this. If someone asked me to describe it, i'd simply tell them that it's a psycho-sexual acid trip through an inverted meat tower located within a garden/meadow full of roses...and mushrooms (yeah) to save the woman you love (I think). Oh, and you can eat your weapons to gain some health, so basically the best game ever!

Was it any good? Absolutely!
Was it challenging?? Ha!! That's an understatement. Let me put it in terms that would better convey what this game did to me. To put it simply: it broke me....

Yes, it's true. This game broke me physically, mentally, psychologically, but more to the point, spiritually. It disrupted the balance of the flow of my life. Much like the first game, I reached a particular day and/or point where it seemed like I couldn't progress, though I gave it everything I had to push further and make it one more day. That particular run ended in misery, though any fan of this series pretty much expects that at some point in their attempt to make it to the end they'll be met with utter defeat/despair. For me, personally, I don't give a s*** if I save anyone/everyone/the town etc. I just want to make it to the final day and see those credits roll across my screen. Hell, making it just one more day and unlocking another achievement often feels like a badge of honor that surpasses anything else you can achieve in most games.

Bottom line: You will once again struggle for every step you take in game. Every bottle of water you drink; every bite of food you take; every attempt to barter for a good outcome; every near-death experience in an infected zone etc., feels like something you truly have to work for.

But I feel that I digress, for this review has yet to make mention of what is perhaps the most crucial piece of information you need to know about this game. For anyone that played the first game, I strongly advise that you sit down for this next bit of detail. Okay, here goes.................no rats. Let me repeat that..............NO RATS!!!!

If you're any good at math, no rats basically means that the sequel is 97,382 times easier than the first game. Just play it, you'll be happy you did ;D

You gotta love these NSFW/visual novel games that Critical Bliss is associated with - fantastic art style, good voice acting (for the parts with speech), well written in a way that will actually manage to make your little guy/gal...*ahem*...'happy' at all the right moments, and characters that are well developed and that leave you feeling like you actually care about their plight. This first part is free and it's literally better than 87% of all of the games that were released in the same year. Thank you both, CB and AWS - keep doing what you're doing, because you're the best at it!!

P.S. Real talk, at least for me, these games are often so engaging, with such endearing characters, that the sexual content almost feels like it takes a back seat and I forget that I'm playing an adult game. I'm not trying to be cliched when I say that I came for the adult content but stayed for the content :D

They did it! They actually f***ing did it!!! Basically everyone in existence thought they were going to 'bloober' all over this, but that's not what they did. Rather, Bloober Team took one of the most beloved horror games, remade it, and created a new masterpiece in the process.

And no, just because James can now dodge doesn't ruin the game, or make him an action hero for that matter. It doesn't take years of martial arts and/or military training to allow someone to pull off a simple dodge to avoid taking hits. Even your grandmother could do it. He's still the 'every man' protagonist that we know/love. But more about the game. Silent Hill has never looked better. The level of detail added to the remake; the textures and animations, weather effects and fog, the ability to break windows, new and larger locations, tweaks to the puzzle system etc. make this something truly special. And the changes to the boss fights and length of the game is mind-blowing.

Silent Hill was always my favorite horror series, though I'm not sorry to admit that I lost faith in it over the years following the downward spiral that began after the release of the 4th game (P.T. being an exception). But now I'm hopeful for the future of the series again. Playing through the Silent Hill 2 remake didn't just make me feel like I was visiting an old friend. It made me feel like I was truly experiencing it all for the first time again. Thank you Bloober Team!

Really cool game! You generally can't go wrong with that analog look/style for any game, especially horror. There's just something undeniably creepy and unsettling about it, and this game nails it!! Granted, I wish there was a way to zoom in on some of the pics while progressing through the days of the game (it takes place during a full week, Monday - Sunday), but you can get a better look at some of these pics after achieving the true ending and unlocking the art book, or really, 'making of' document.

The game unfolds through various calls the player receivers throughout the workweek, during which you'll be tasked with trying to identify the source of the issues the callers are calling about. You aid these callers by identifying the correct source of their predicament. The catch being that some of the issues they're facing are grounded in the realm of the supernatural.

This actually gets a little tricky on the final day, when you can no longer pull up the file on a particular pest/problem (i.e. bed bugs, ticks, troll, cellar growth... yeah, supernatural). Up until that point, you can typically take a call, place the caller on hold, and then look through the various files to try and determine the source of the caller's problem. On this final day, you essentially need to work off of your [expected] superior knowledge of all normal household pests, and all those things which go *BUMP* in the night. Challenging, yes, but it's still really fun. And let's face it, we're all pros at that point, right?

Bottom line: totally fun game that the dev put some serious effort into, and it absolutely nails that AOL-era/Windows 95 look. And that ending music/sequence though!!!!!!! It gave me some serious Troll vibes (not the supernatural/fantasy creature troll, but the cult classic move from the 80's, during that scene which follows the transformation of Sonny Bono's apartment into a mystical/forest grotto for the trolls, in which they're all rocking out to some choir-like beats!!!!)

Blade Runner x Silent HIll x Cry of Fear, and essentially one guy made this indie masterpiece! Hollowbody is saturated with morbid atmosphere, dredging up those creepy vibes that so few modern horror games truly seem to nail. The sound design/music is some of the best you're likely to find in a survival horror game, and the voice acting is legitimately on par with a AAA game, or a game coming from a larger development company, with some genuinely emotional moments that hit you right in the 'feels'.

There's plenty of combat, if that's what you're looking for, but you can mostly avoid enemy encounters and simply enjoy the dark journey up until the end. The puzzles are relatively easy, and you have a choice of multiple melee weapons and firearms, including a bow. There's more than one ending, and even some unique unlockables, which all adds to the replay value.

In my honest opinion, the dev asking for too little money with this one. Totally worth the bucks, and then some!!

A cute, thoughtful little game about an amateur photographer/cryptid hunter. You review the forum of the local cryptozoology website to get your to-do list, then you go and take some photos of mysterious places/objects and upload those photos to progress the story. It's fun, and genuinely ominous at times. No joke, that part when you need to reset the power rivaled some of the anxiety I felt while playing Amnesia: The Bunker.

i still have a long way to go, but I'm lovin' this game, and I'm getting some serious Control x Remnant vibes from this. Season/level resets may seem frustrating, but considering how quick and easy crafting is, I don't think that's too much of an issue unless you grind your a$$ off to max out your character each time. Personally, I try to stick doing the the bare minimum in games like this to progress, complete objectives, and take out bosses etc., so that I don't feel like I wasted my time for nothing, yet I still get to experience the story and enjoy the trip along the way.

Also, not unlike The First Descendant, this game also has some beautiful/juicy/sexy characters. That shouldn't be important, but it is.

Lots of fun! Sure, it's redundant AF, but it's free with lots of unlockables. More importantly, it's full of beautiful/juicy/sexy sci-fi peeps doing shooty 'future' things in a post-apocalyptic world, many of which have exotic names. Then there's a bad guy named Greg.......GREG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, I like it.
