The kind of game where you want to play a battlefield style game, but your PC is hot doodoo, and you don't have any friends/despise multiplayer and would rather play against bots

Man for so long, I kind of have it sitting on my desktop when I got the free version. But later on when I learned that it has you be able to make animation, at the time when I was really wanting to do animations, I have started using Krita a good amount of times. The issue I had mainly with the free version, is the lack of an auto update, and at best, a somewhat laggy software. But it made up for being very versatile, light on space, and is very intuitive once you learned more of the ins and outs. It also has some really nice brushes too.

I've used the free version for most of my time, but after growing really close with the software as my go-to animation software for so many years, I finally grabbed the Steam version to pay to the devs for such a great art software that has a bit of everything that works. Thanks to the new constant updates, I've gotten a much more optimized experience with Krita. And if it weren't for Krita, my love for animation would've died off quickly if I haven't found a reliable animation software soon enough.

Overall, if you're looking for a software that you can use for animations, this is highly recommended. For illustrations, I haven't really put a lot of time to really see how it went unfortunately, but I have heard from others that it's really good.

You get obliterated by the pork bun guy, because he knows you're not a real man for not eating pork buns.

It was boring as heck, and the story hardly has much focus and is so slow, I couldn't continue playing it and lost interest in it.

***Note, I do want to keep the review as spoiler-free as possible, so do read this at your own risk.. at least hopefully that I don't screw up***

****Also, unless you're not an achievement hunter, do keep in mind that you can't be able to unlock achievements, if you imported your save file from the non-Steam version, to Steam, so ye****

*****Another note, it's best to play the game as blind as possible, and to play the clean version first, before the 18+ version... unless you're a sneaky rebel*****

Ahh yes! I've been waiting for this game to be released for 1 full year! And now that it's officially now released on Steam, I'm able to play it! Well, except a bit before, I played the 18+ version for a bit, so... ye. But yeah, it's officially on Steam now! I was genuinely afraid that it got lost in the depths of Greenlight, overlooked, but it still stands <3

But anyways, enough rambling; let's go review it... at least from the experience of playing the game in the non-Steam 18+ download, and the demo.

I know that after playing the demo before, it was pretty bare-bones as heck. There was sound, but it lacked background music, and the character portraits, mostly never change, aside from the botton corner, beside the dialog bar, for the characters other than the character you play as; Lin Tian-Liao. But now, in the official release, a TON of things were added into the game, such as the character portraits sometimes moving, having a few different portraits for each character, so you're not looking at the same portrait of the character for the entire game, more emotes for the character mugshots, the camera zooming in and moving, to make it feel a bit more engaging and fun to watch, especially when paired with certain sound effects. Heck, background music is now given this time. Though, to be fair, the demo mostly demonstrated the dialog of the game, and the translations of the game, so I couldn't complain too much on the demo.

Now, on the game's story, and its general gameplay; you play as Lin Tian-Liao, a college student who can suddenly see three "furry-beast men" spirits/gods; a tiger, a leopard, and a leopard cat. The story, well, Liao sees the three cats, they ask him things, and want to do something for Liao, depending on the spirit/god you go for. Each of the tigers you will choose to help, or go and hang out with, will increase your bond with them. Well, at least being a romance visual novel, that's how it'll usually go, right? But yeah, each of the three cats do have their own distinct personality and appearance, along with their reasons with what they want you for, and are cute in their own way.(At least not them typical anime girls you see in almost every visual novels nowadays this time, haha) :3

Being an artist myself, I do love myself some nice artstyles in games, and Nekojishi is mainly no exception. The anime style of visual novels isn't anything new, but being of anime furries, or Kemono as they call it, is kind of an interesting sight to see, instead of the usual anime. Not to diss on them anime styles, I love myself some anime(because I'm a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ weeb), but the Kemono style is more fresher to see than the usual nowadays, since kemono games, or Kemono in general, are comparatively rare.

The most interesting part of the game, is that it gives a description of some things that are said in the game, mostly about the history, description, and other interesting trivia about Taiwanese and Chinese culture. Kind of a nice touch for the game, especially to learn more about the above cultures, that are even lesser-known. Now while I did say it's the most interesting part of the game, there's not a lot to say about it, unfortunately. Nothing new, much like the Kemono style, but it's a very interesting thing to have to just learn about the Chinese/Taiwanese cultures.

Despite many ups of the game, the game isn't exactly really that complex in its way of its relationship/bonding with the cats, especially compared to Doki Doki Literature Club. However, it's not really something to overlook, being generally cute of a game to play, and still that you can feel some bits of change for the cats, on the choices you make. Again, nothing complex, but still simple enough to understand the game, but has some moments where it's still interesting, cute and likeable.

The translation of the game, isn't really so perfect, but is still readable to understand what is being said. It's very obvious in the English translation(the game can allow you to change the language ingame, so yee), with a few spelling errors here and there. Once again, not really a problem, since there won't be any words that have too much errors to be unreadable.

Overall, while I haven't played many kinds of visual novels nowadays, I find this visual novel game to be very interesting of its genre, and also a great visual novel game to play; it's cute, funny, and enjoyable! Just do be prepared for them adorable beast men... especially if you do try to play the 18+ version~ (which can be downloaded from their offical website. Don't worry too much if the 18+ version brings you to the store page of the game, the 18+ version is still free, don't worry; since the payment is meant as a form of donation, if you enjoyed the 18+ version :>)

***Also, had to post a short review, just for it to process much faster, and then I edited my longer detailed review in***

I do also feel that the game would make for an anime, too, I suppose as a kind of slice-of-life anime :>

Plays very much like the Disgaea games, than a Fire Emblem game. Really fun, and satisfying with clearing an episode, being rewarded depending on your performance, by adding more fat stacks for getting more fans, also similar to Disgaea, where you're rewarded for performing well in a map being given bonus items from performing more combos, as opposed to Fire Emblem, where you're just kind of rewarded with "ey, this guy is an MvP, he gets a medal, sometimes two people will get them"

Also the ability to customize your dream Sentai Squad. Go wild with your customized Sentai Squad, from crude, to the stupid, to even the self-insert(I guess that's how it kinda works?) :3
