Simply excellent. Keeps a lot of the original stuff while adding a bunch of quality of life elements, gameplay mechanics, and an absolutely gorgeous graphics in a remaked package. And also the knife parry is the coolest gameplay addition

Cute game, simple point-and-click, but a bit of figuring out to know what to do when fighting zombies since those vary between each day with some doing damage to your or your base.(But know any scratches would usually mean damage to you and/or your walls, and some enemies if you at least know which one damages both you and your structures, damages just you when scavenging and doesn't damage structures, and so on. Scavenge too for food and fortifications, but usually you'd not want to scavenge out too hastily as you'll need to check for potential special enemies that can severely damage you if you try to scavenge.)

Not a whole lot you can really do, and is usually a rhythm of fortify, fend off zombies and scavenge if you need to, at times often with a bit of trial and error the game goes with, as well as just resting for the day to get back a lot of health if well fortified and stocked on supplies, but it's fine since it's a small and short game. Just survive, get food, fight off zombies, point and click.

Charming overall. Protecc both sisters, and most importantly, DO NOT go for Scenario B :(

Mainly a review for multiplayer of things. Really fun game, with it being modernized while still remaining pretty close to the originals, and every weapon finally feeling useful among each other, instead of being BR only like old(I might be biased, since I love my bullethose SMG despite how ♥♥♥♥♥ it is in every scenario). Maps are all pretty good, especially with Big Team Maps, taking advantage of elevation a lot, with some simple maps for some good quick fun. Some maps for 4v4 do get somewhat big, but still remains small enough to not be too big for it

Only downside is that it's lacking a lot of content to come back. Although every now and then new updates with new gamemodes that give it some more to do, some gamemodes being my favourites(Land Grab), and some not so much(Stockpile, I think that needs a rework to have them spread out as opposed to being bunched together in one spot, and whichever team scores first is almost guaranteed to win). Overall pretty solid and fun in spite of some problems, but once Forge mode is out in the coming weeks, gonna be cool seeing a ♥♥♥♥ ton of custom content that would be both cool to check out if what some people who had used it are able to make, which the lot of them are wild to see, and also create 0:

Insanely fun dungeon crawling roguelike with a mix of hack-n-slash to bullet hell, and the mix of slower-paced play with organizing and tending to your cult while also decorating your base to make resources, do passive resources, fish, play some board games, and also to prepare sermons and doctrines to make the cult of what you like with different benefits.

t's both addicting, a nice mix of two features that work together while helping ensure a balance if one part gets a bit much than the other to swap to, and its style is overall cute and appealing without trying to be too edgy with itself, given the subject matter of cults. All of it being a really great package of a game!

Some of the complaints I do have are the controls being somewhat iffy. It's most noticeable when on keybouse/mouse, since both mouse and keyboard can also aim where you attack, so sometimes you'll accidentally attack backwards from the enemy as you try to move the opposite direction to aim your dodge roll towards. The other one is the game having a bit of limited content; the content in the game is decently plentiful, but afterwards you might run to a spot where you're beefed out a lot, especially with the game being somewhat short. It isn't too bad of a deal when you're playing the game at a somewhat slower pace, as you'll be put in a steady grind to getting everything unless you're gonna be speedrunning really hard to completing it so quickly. Otherwise, problems that are there, aren't too bad problems, though playing on keyboard and mouse can somewhat affect controls a bit.

After Purrfect Apawcalypse, this is a really good start for a new game, which it worked itself out so well to get me sticking around much longer within the universe.
Great dialogue with some fun lingos to play with, funny interactions, and also the funnest part... learning Slanguage Arts >:)

The style of the game is very retro, with the neon-ish colors, the red-blue 3D glasses effects, as well as some jokes that both got em off guard and the lot. The art is also really expanded to have so much of it in the towns, the character interactions, and many things. Very stylish and cool, even if the 3D effects/Chromatic aberration can be a bit hurty to the eyes(but I supoose is reflective of how the effects of cool gets pretty obnoxious that it emanates on everyone. Still eye hurty) lol

Edit: After playing up to Episode 6, I didn't realize until now how the story becomes much more heartbreaking about Cody's story, his increasingly strained interaction with his friends, the idea of the hierarchy system being so steep that anyone as a loser is really a fate worse than death, and also Juvie burning all the trash across the town. While without spoiling too much. Got me really hooked into the game with that.

July 8th, 2022, all episodes:
Back for more now. Story done, and after replaying it a lot to better understand the story, I feel it to be much better developed and a great step-up in investments. Especially with the realization when I put two-and-two together when I replayed many of the episodes so many times plus the 10th episode, it blew my mind. Best is that it was right in my face the whole time, and I haven't questioned anything until that many replays to learn it all. Like above, will keep things rather closed out and as vague as possible, so you can look for yourself and fit the puzzles in place :O

Really great so far from played, the story that's complex with the interactions and dysfunctional relationship and interactions that slowly unravel, all the characters are great with some good, flawed and fun jokes, but all good with conflicts between each other to explore their characters. I hope to see Season 2 of this series!

Revised review as of October 2024:
So, given the game some time, it has improved quite a bit compared to its initial release, as well as a number of changes to some elements. One of them is the change in the hub area, where it seems to be more based around a train museum this time, along with new rooms like a trophy room(mostly to showcase completion rewards), removal of different modes for one map; basically meaning it'll mostly be barricaded suspects for the most part(with some bomb defusal on some maps), and a bit of extra customization options that you can unlock by completing levels in different ranks.

TL:DR, great tactical game that's stupidly stressful. Play if you like SWAT 4 or tactical shooters a lot

The gunplay feels just as strong as it is, with great sound design like Insurgency Sandstorm with really powerful-feeling guns, and overwhelming explosions. But much like Sandstorm, if you're not privy to the sudden/loud gun noises or explosions, it'll feel like a horror game... which it does at least feel low-key. Looks and feels fantastic and scary.

Difficulty, in the sense of the game being a bit broken, has been fixed quite a bit. No longer will you be instantly dead by the time you breach with a John Wick gas station robber on the other side, and now attack and respond more appropriately and realistically without being. That said, it's still a game ensuring caution and attempting to arrest everyone than gunning everyone down for best possible score, and enemies can still be a bit stubborn on surrendering unless you surprise them(and are still more so than in SWAT 4). Conversely, your AI teammates are also fairly improved too, if still a bit janky at times; but now more reliable at reacting to enemy behavior

Outside of the broken stuff fixed, enemies are a lot more trickier this time around; given the ability to hide in shelves to surprise you, fake their deaths, hide under beds, shoot from cover(with really poor accuracy but with how intimidatingly loud gunshots can be, can force you to take cover), along with the usual tricks they can do in the older versions like setting traps and being ready to fire as soon as the door is opened if they barricaded.

They also added a sort of "rogue-like" kind of mode called Commander mode, where you have a set of officers with their own "stress" level that affects their performance if it lowers depending on how well/poorly you go through the mission, with their unique abilities that come along with it; as well as the ability to lose your officers if they either die or get too stressed. It's a more proper single-player mode with perma-death(at least with your teammates) that can quickly snowball into madness if you leave them unchecked for way too long. They do bring along a story in this mode, having a lot of background to the missions from the 911 calls to your team prep talk. I confess I haven't played it through very much since while I really like this game, it is one of the times where I'd usually prepare for it in the long haul for how stress the game can be a lot of the time(unless with friends where the stress turns into chaos in a funny way), so not much comment on the story.

Overall, game has gotten quite nice changes overtime from the previous versions until the 1.0 update. Pick it up if you really like SWAT 4
