Fun fact, if you register your game that you bought for 2 dollars in a sale on the sims website, then you get 10 dollars worth of fun bucks with which to purchase lederhosen and dirndl and nothing else of value.

Very conflicted feelings about this game.
On the one hand the atmosphere is phenomenal and the team are to be commended for the sound design and art direction in this game.
On the other hand that atmosphere is impeding my enjoyment where I'd otherwise be ramming vehicles into civillians with reckless abandon as per Grand Theft Auto or Saints Row because it's just too well done. The dark tone of everything, the civilians screaming for help, the ambient soundtrack, it's all really well done (apart from the player character being comically over the top. "Only my weapon understands me" is a line in this game.) and it all makes me feel like scum.

Tossed a coin for the rating because the element of this game that deserves recommendation is the same element that makes me dislike it.

Actually quite neato. I get the flak being sent its way after controversy surrounding Konami but the game is legitimately enjoyable in its own right.
What is absolutely needed is a free demo of the first couple of missions, up to that one in the shipping container base to give the potential buyer an idea of what the singleplayer is like because it's a totally different game from the Online showcased in the beta.

  • Story's about what you'd expect from a non-Kojima game like Portable Ops or AC!D which is to say not great but serviceable.
  • Gameplay's great as you'd expect from a game largely built off of the framework of MGSV. New additions such as melee are granted fairly awkward discouraging combat but thanks to great animations from what I expect was largely the same team behind MGSV's superb animations, it's not a chore to play. The slow and awkward controls also encourage fighting defensively and stealthily which work contrary to points I've seen floating about that stealth is worthless.
  • Stealth is more rewarding thanks to bonuses being earned for taking out enemies from stealth and fultoning their bodies and it's more they have my wife and children send help tense given that so much of what you do is on a timer now. You can't crouch or crawl along the ground without draining stamina necessitating that you stop and recover occasionally, you're constantly battling a rapidly depleting thirst and hunger gauge and in the dust an oxygen gauge too. Playing stealthily is safer in the immediate circumstance but in the long term you're exhausting more resources to keep yourself going for when you inevitably find yourself in combat.
  • Survival elements aren't complex by any means but they're suitably oppressive for the setting. I've found myself a few times now expending valuable ammunition just to shoot down a raven and eat it raw, suffering food poisoning in the process just to keep going that little bit further which I can't say is a level of desperation I've experienced in other games of the survival genre.
  • Base building and management makes a return which I didn't anticipate and is now more complex and in depth than the equivalent in MGSV but still nothing especially spectacular.

I highly recommend watching some gameplay on YouTube or some such and giving this game a chance.

I have jumped upon the bandwagon too.
Shower me with praise pls.

In seriousness though Creation Club was exceptionally poorly implemented. Bugger all in the way of worthwhile content.
Perhaps when the next wave comes along we might see some genuinely great stuff (which is to say more than shoddy ports of items that are just dumped in your inventory. Bethsda.) but even if it isn't it's still going to clog up your storage space with content you may well never use and that you can't delete without having to download the files again before you play.

Suggestions for improvement.
-Credit the authors of the mods:
As is there is to my knowledge no way to know who actually made what short of signature details such as asXas' obsession with blue tape.

-Price the content accordingly:
A suit of Hellfire with a bunch of aesthetic issues (shoddy diffuse, clipping with frame, heavy clipping when wielding weapons which I'll grant is consistent with the power armour found in the game as is) in what is essentially an aesthetic mod should not cost a $5 That's quite frankly ridiculous.

-Stronger implementation of the mods:
A bunch of these just drop the item added directly on the player. I can understand this as one of the biggest concerns with the Creation Club is compatability and just dropping the item directly on the player presents the lowest risk of incompatability with other mods but it still feels cheap all the same and if you're expecting somebody to pay money for these mods then you simply need to make sure that the player feels their money has been well spent. You don't need anything crazy like with Operation Anchorage when an entire DLC was made for the sole purpose of giving the player a gauss rifle but just something like the Horse Power Armour would be great rather than dumping the items in the player or in some crate somewhere.

-Don't install content onto the players hard drive before they pay for it:
Get it together.

-Stop.

Figure a review for the game is owed too:
Easily the best in the series by far. I love that they've implemented dialogue that doesn't make me want to kill myself because that was a major turnoff for me in previous Borderlands games.
