If Ima Shouganai has a million fans, then I am one of them. If Ima Shouganai has ten fans, then I am one of them. If Ima Shouganai has only one fan then that is me. If Ima Shouganai has no fans, then that means I am no longer on earth. If the world is against Ima Shouganai, then I am against the world.

I see a lot of people posting negative reviews on here, despite them also saying that they enjoyed their time with it. I'm here to offset that.

The game is genuinely rough around the edges, but it's totally playable (and currently very fun) and i can see this being an incredible title later down the line. The roadmap they've introduced looks to bring in most of what I would want in a game like this, and from what I can see- the devs are super receptive to feedback. They're hand writing messages to negative reviews, asking them to fill out the feedback form so that we can shape the game to how we want it, which is way more than what I've seen 99% of devs do.

There are a few things that I've highlighted to them on their feedback form that could do with improvement already which I'll highlight below:

Currently you're unable to easily see if a building has been scavenged already without clicking on it, which will deselect your squad that you're about to send on an order, so you have to go back and forth double checking that you're sending them to the right area.

The UX design is clunky, and very clearly early days, because the building system doesn't have much variety to it, which is fine for this state, but when you go to build it also shows a large box detailing the item you've chosen beside your cursor, which makes it super difficult to see what you're trying to do.

The gameplay loop is quite fun- go out, scavenge, find weapons and munitions, bring them back to outfit your squads and then you can scavenge a little later with higher combat power. Or, you can just turtle up and get to building some really fun fortifications that don't restrict you too much since you can delete pretty much any building in the game with enough willpower. I'd like to see some more varied events that have consequences, rather than just adding flavour, but it's clear that these are to be fleshed out down the line, adding new enemy types, weapons and other survivor encounters.

I think this could be an incredibly fun and engaging game, and I'm happy to see that a team of passionate devs are working on it and are listening to the community to bring in changes that we actually want.

For £1.59, The Tower of Elements is a cheap but enjoyable title with a fun combo system and gameplay that isn't actually too easy despite other reviews. The art is also top notch and is just as well optimised as any other good title to arrive on Steam considering the amount of manpower that has gone into this. In spite of my review, I believe that many of the reviews for this game are rather unfair so you should give this game a try if you're a fan of Guitar Hero or Rockband style gameplay. I mean, you can't really lose out on the price
