Before i get to the main review, i would like to remind everyone that this is a review based on my own opinions and experiences of this game. This is not a definitive article about this game as my experiences may differ to other peoples. This is also not an advert or recommendation to buy the game, so please do not take it as such. Thankyou.

Overview

Gold Rush: The Game is a well made game. It has many features which make it great for people who enjoy games that require work and effort to be put in to get a reward. It is balanced and fair, with an economy system that makes it difficult, but not too difficult, to progress further. With that said however there are some downsides to this game also, such as how repetetive and tedious some of the tasks can be, not to mention the sometimes poorly made collision boxes on terrain and objects.

Good points

From my experience playing the game, i have picked up a few good points about it that i believe should be praised.

  • Very well made and balanced economy, allows progression through the game at a decent speed without making it too boring or slow
  • Constant updates from the development team, showing they are aware of bugs and constantly working to fix them
  • Even on low graphics, the artwork of this game is beautiful. It may not be 100% realistic however the team have done an amazing job here
  • Great sound track to really help immerse yourself into the game.

Bad Points

However as with every game, there are some bad points that i would like to point out here. Please note however, as i have not played much since the recent updates of the game these issues may have been fixed already.

  • The gold output from the higher tier machinery seems low, can take hours to even get a good yield.
  • No multiplayer, meaning that all tasks must be done by one player, creating the need to jump between machinery often making higher tier gold farming tedious.
  • Slightly buggy terrain/vehicle colisions. Truck and other vehicles sometimes get stuck on small bits of dirt or rocks.
  • Tedious tasks such as taking and replacing miners moss, usualy ending in the player getting stuck behind an object and having to reset themselves.

Conclusion

Overall, i would recommend this game to other people. However it is up to you wether you wish to buy it. My thoughts on this game is that the idea behind it is good, however there is still a way to go (Hence why the game is early access). The development team appear to be working on keeping the game well updated and removing any new found bugs reasonably fast.

The gameplay is well balanced and well thought out, with increased amounts of tiers to work you way up too. this game is perfect for those that love the immersed single player experience of a good grinding game.
