Not worth any amount of money. The game doesn't work at all. Trying to join a server resulted in 100% disk and memory usage almost immediately, followed by over an hour of waiting to see if the game would come back from being unresponsive and actually load. I match all the specs save the processor (Have an AMD 6300), and I couldn't even get the game to run on the Super Potato settings. To hell with the sale, I can go buy a burrito for the $8.74 this cost me.

As of today, Hopoo no longer owns the Risk of Rain IP, having sold it to Gearbox in its entirety and left it up to the abysmal writing and directive minds behind the likes of Borderlands 3. This game is no longer worth your money, as depressed as I am to say it.

Unit movement is slow and clunky, even with the tutorial things are very poorly explained, and even on the easiest of the difficulties, the enemy AI will still be better than yours. I struggled to understand what was going on from the get-go, as things weren't explained nearly at all when it comes to building, budgeting, etc. I was completely unable to do anything, with enemy troops spawning directly next to mine as I started a level, and immediately killing me.

With the release of the Epic Loot update, I have come to the conclusion that this game is no longer worth playing. After having been cheated out of gear due to crashes and bugs, and having what little I did get held behind a paywall, I'm sad to say that this game has finally hit the point of no return. Do not download, do not play. Uninstall if you have it, and get your diskspace back. This game has died. It was fun, once. I actually kinda enjoyed it. But now, it's just another crate simulator, grind and grind to get one single item, then scrap it and grind some more. That's not what this game was about a long time ago, but that's what it has devolved to. Goodbye Freejam, I won't be using your products again anytime soon. You ruined something promising.

While I've seen quite a lot of ups and downs with this game, I have to honestly say that it's great. Even though it doesn't have a storyline, or any kind of structure for that matter, that's what gives Trove the edge it needs. Because you have so many options, and nothing but a small suggestion that calls itself a quest to really work on, you're free to set up goals on your own for things that you want to do.
Want to work to get a new mount? Go for it.
Want to make a checklist and see every biome personally? Easy to do.
Want to get the fastest mount in the game and run as far as possible in any direction? Sure, why the hell not.

Granted, there are things like server stability issues, queue time problems, and a few hiccups surrounding things like updates, the game is still good, and thankfully it's still being worked on unlike quite a few of the F2P games on the Steam Store. Above all that, I can personally say that even though I have an absolutely crap computer, I can still run this game without too much of a problem, save for the fact that the resolution changer is stubborn and won't show up.

Overall, 8.5/10 for a game with some very serious potential, if worked on properly. Though you can take what I say with a grain of salt, it's worth giving this game a shot at least once. You never know, you might find something enjoyable.

Got cornered by a zombified version of my best friend. Non-zombified version of my friend walk into the room, shoots me in the face, then gets bitten and kills himself. I respawn, and end up in the middle of a horde.

11/10, Would get shot and eaten again.
