TL;DR Fun auto battler/roguelite with free gacha mechanics. As a recovering gambling addict this scratches that gambling itch without having to lose my house and kids again.

Basics are you match color symbols that the characters have to obtain party wide buffs or enemy debuffs. If you buy and combine 3 of the same character, you get their symbols permanently, even if you sell or don't use them in your party. You also have gems you can use as the player to assist in various ways, whether that is damaging enemies, buffing/healing your team, or debuffing the enemies. Choosing the right gems for your party composition is critical in the late/end game.

The few reviews that mention not being able to build your party a certain way didn't finish learning the game before they put it down. Sure, RNG is RNG, but if you take the time to read the character abilities and don't blindly play the symbol matching game, you'll enjoy your time playing this game. No reason to try to stack the purple symbol if no one in your party does magic damage.

The characters generally fall into the MMO holy trinity, that being they either dps, tank, or heal. The tank characters have no way to force a target onto themselves (taunt), but they'll have self recovery or mitigation. You'll want to build your party with this knowledge, as having 6 dps characters with a ton of bonus symbols active will still most likely get you killed in deeper runs.

Had some performance issues during the first week, but as of today the performance issues have been cleared up via a patch. If you want a good sci-fi looter shooter look no further. Honestly better than Destiny 2.

I hesitated to get this game because I am not the biggest fan of pixel graphics. I regret the hesitation. This game is as easy or difficult as you want to make it, with higher rewards for more risk taken. As you play you will get more cards to pump up that difficulty, and make earlier challenges easier to handle. The part I really enjoy is that as you unlock new cards to increase the difficulty, they will sometimes interact with previously introduced cards to create something entirely new. The game play loop is extremely addicting, so be wary. You'll lose hours before you realize it. This is a must for the price.

Best Roguelike I've played hands down. The story is engaging, the characters are memorable, and most importantly, the gameplay is phenomenal. Every run can feel like a different game, but familiar enough that it isn't frustrating. This is a definite buy if you are into this genre. Plays amazingly on controller, so I'd recommend using one if possible.
