do i recommend you pay full price?

hmmmm, no, probably not.

do i recommend you play the game?

duh, its skyrim.

i actually have 364 hours (approx.) through the other (not special edition) copy of skyrim. plus some loose hours from playing on console. baby hours but enough to have gotten the full experience. safe to say i like skyrim and all its bethesda-like qualities.

Not even halfway through the game yet and I would already toss this game at anybody who needs some mindless singleplayer to get them through quarantine. The games not perfect, but I can overlook every single bug or flaw for the amount of enjoyment I've gotten out of it.

This game hosts by far one of the best single-player experiences I've ever had (mounting around the same area as Stardew Valley and Skyrim). It might be my favorite single-player game altogether, if I'm honest. And it's weird because I don't really remember how I stumbled across this game. I just bought it and went in completely blind. I'd never been a fan of platformers or any type of metroidvania (I completely dropped Ori because it was just too much for me in the platforming/puzzle area), but somehow, against all odds, I found myself playing Hollow Knight--and then getting completely hooked.

Hollow Knight is a masterpiece. Its world is massive and non-linear (allowing for the player to pick and choose where they go and who they fight). There's so much to do and see and its an adventure from start to finish. From the moment I fought the mantis lords at the bottom of the fungal wastes, I knew I was in for a ride that I'd never want to end. Hollow Knight succeeds in areas where I feel like other games just can't. It's designed beautiful from enemy to boss to the areas, it's difficult but fair in its combat, and the world itself is crazy huge (not just in playable areas, but in lore and story building). There aren't enough praises in the world I can give to this game and its crazy how I wish I could play it through blind all over again. This is coming from somebody who has the attention span of a peanut (who also struggles immensely with staying interested in a game). Hollow Knight knows what the player wants and how they want it and it shows.

Long story short: buy Hollow Knight. I would pay 60$ easy for this game. It goes for a quarter of that price. Don't watch any videos. Just buy it and play it, right from the beginning.
