Stuttering issues caused by launcher. Confirmed after following a guide to run the game without the launcher, stuttering issues resolved. This is unacceptable.

For Steam Deck players:

Install the mod "Better UI scaling" from the Workshop to scale the size of the UI without clipping!

I was high king of Norway. I was a dreadful, fat warmonger who inherited a powerful army from my father, and was using it to continue my father's legacy of conquering in the name of Tyr. I was in the middle of a war that would secure me the title of Emperor of Scandinavia. But I died early due to my obesity, fracturing my kingdom under confederate partition between my two sons, splitting my army and leaving my eldest son to fight an indecisive war. He might've still been able to win if it hadn't been for the Kingdom of Denmark to the south, with a superior army, declaring a war of subjugation and vassalizing my realm.

I went from potential emperor to nothing in 6 months. wtf

Here's my review about 10 hours into the game.

Positives:
Game is beautiful on the higher settings (although you can still make your player character harrowingly ugly, if that's your thing).
Dynamic music is engaging, overall music is fantastic.
livestock in your inventory + food never spoiling makes trading viable, even addicting.
Commanding cavalry is much better. They actually follow you instead of just getting stuck in infantry.
Game runs respectably on lower specs. Tested on my laptop which has a GeForce 940MX + i5 6200U, just about at the threshold for playable and I wasn't even expecting it to run. Won't look pretty, though, as to be expected.
Excellent progression so far.
Bugfixes and updates very often.

Criticisms:
Early game is repetitive; fighting bandit hideouts, the quests, if you're in the early game for very long you'll be doing the same things over and over.
The quests are lackluster. I'd like some deeper plotlines, maybe expanding on the lore and characters.

Still lacking in features, but the core experience in battles feels really good. Can't wait to see what this game looks like in its finished state.

Was minding my own business in a thunderstorm when the wildfire opened an ancient danger unveiling androids which slaughtered my encampment. 10/10
