A complete failure as both a roleplaying game and a musical. The music/dialogue balance is like 25% music to 75% dialogue and then because none of the voice actors can actually carry a tune the "music" is basically just dialogue delivered to music. None of the lyrics are clever or memorable. None of the music is remotely good. I played 2 hours of this game and can't remember a single song from it.

This is truly the worthy successor to Dragon Age 2 David Gaider was born to make: a snark laden atrocity devoid of gameplay or even basic animation.

The people calling this a good game and giving it positive reviews are completely delusional. It takes a special kind of incompetence to recreate the feel of Bethesda's miserable gamebryo engine in unreal, not to mention lacking basic mechanics present in New Vegas a decade ago.

Combat is atrocious. All the weapons feel like complete crap to use, and there's nothing to do in the game other than combat. Companions are braindead, suicidal, and frequently walk in front of you blocking your shots while they're busy getting steamrolled by enemies.

The writing is completely forgettable at best and incredibly grating and unfunny at worst. I didn't even think it was possible to make a game worse than the atrocity that was Fallout 3, but The Outer Worlds team did it. 8 hours of my life I will never get back. Don't make the same mistake I did. This isn't a spiritual successor to New Vegas, it's a failure on par with Deus Ex: Invisible War.

nobody plays this game. no one will join your game. any steam charts numbers are lying and anyone playing is not in a game mode that you will be able to join. you are swine and this game hates you as much as the developers, who abandoned this game, do. nobody is playing this. do not pay money for this. this is literally worse than darktide.

A loving lo-fi homage to Lucio Fulci that's more fun to play than any of the FPS Resident Evils

In the movie Stand By Me, a group of 4 young boys set out on a journey to see a dead body. They go through a series of ordeals to reach it, but when they do, it's a kind of a sad anticlimax for the narrator; a disturbing, morbid site that leaves him shaken and signals the end of his childhood.

I mention this to illustrate a point: Great Deceiver is that dead body. It is disgusting, it is cruel, and once you see it, your life will be forever changed by the knowledge that not only something like this exists, but that it was produced and sold for real money. There is no masturbatory value to be found here, even patched to restore the 90% of the game that was cut out to make this sellable on steam. The sex scenes are miserable, profoundly unarousing, and completely degrading. The protagonist is repeatedly tortured, sodomized, and defecated both onto his body and also has feces forced into his orifices. I've been playing for 10 hours and I have not had to make a single decision in this time, merely watched as the protagonist is subjected to increasingly typo-ridden disgusting sexual torture as the game progresses.

There are moments of this game so mind boggingly stupid and disgusting that you have to laugh at them, like when the protagonist has 5 pints of semen injected into his testicles via his urethra or when he is trapped in a NASA designed masturbation chair jerking him off into a chalice used in the Last Supper, but most of it is just the tedious inevitability of the protagonist making stupid decisions, being imprisoned, and then being repeatedly sodomized to the point of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and pissing himself, which happens at the end of pretty much every scene.

I figure you have to know what you are getting if you have any familiarity with this game or the Starless franchise in general, but in the off chance that you do not, you just stumbled across this steam page and you're looking for a eroge to get off to, this is not that game. This is a trainwreck that you are going to gawk at in morbid fascination because you are unable to take your eyes off of it.

EDIT:
I have since "completed" this game. Every single ending has been cut from the game even with the uncensor patch. This is, quite frankly, a joke compared to the JAST release of Starless, which may have the most typo ridden garbage ever, but at least was uncensored completely and included all scenes.

As of February 2022, all the content I actually enjoyed playing will have officially been deleted from this game. A pathetic shambling corpse of a franchise kept alive by delusional fanboys paying $70 annually for 3 hours of single player content and the privilege of grinding their god awful mp for worthless exotics that don't matter because there's no single player content to use them in and if they're actually good in MP bungie will nerf them in their continuing quest to annihilate anything people enjoyed about this game.

I've been playing this game since year 1 on battle.net and everything I enjoyed has been permanently deleted from the game to make room for a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of nothing. You would have to be legitimately insane to pick this game up now and I cannot even imagine how bad it is for the people still playing it.

Pointlessly huge, empty levels and encounter design based around spamming bullet sponge enemies everywhere that bum rush you from every direction. Completely shallow, braindead, and unrewarding on every level.

EDIT: i have since encountered a midgame game-ending bug that makes further progress impossible. i cannot report this bug because their steam forums are locked down and all communications must be handled through discord. im not joining your ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ discord to complain about your broken game in the vain hopes that you will fix it after over 2 years.

Probably the best co-op horde shooter I've played since the original Killing Floor, and this game absolutely wipes its ass with Back4Blood as far as releases this year go. Every class manages to feel unique and fun to play, although you'll probably quickly gravitate to a main class and only play the others for daily tasks. Needs more levels for sustained replayability, as there's very little motivation to replay the campaign once you beat it except to collect more weapons, which have an unreasonably low drop rate anyway, and has extremely limited in-game chat or communication outside of emotes, so you'll need an outside VOIP program like mumble or discord for serious play. Still, if you've got a weekend to spare and a couple friends willing to play with you, this is one of the better ways to spend it.
