Updated: Looks like Gaijin started to implement economic changes to make it easier for players to play. Overall it looks like based on the road map they provided and the first set of changes, they are on the right track. Because of this, I will change my review to recommended.

I am one of the ones who spent a lot of money on this game during the past 10 years. I started playing this game in the Alpha days (2012).

In the beginning (before 2015) I could unlock stuff without spending a lot of money. Things were nice and I could really speed up the progress with the premium account which made sense. Once they started changing the economy and introduced research points, I had to spend money because I simply couldn't afford to play the game for 40 hours a week, and to unlock my favorite jets and tanks, the only way out was to spend money.

I never was happy about the way I had to shell out money and never was happy about the way grinding worked. I had to put all my gaming budget into this game instead of buying new games every year. The only reason I gave in was I had disposable income, and to me, my time had way more value. Obviously, the game mechanics were fun for the most part and I loved this game for the past 10 years.

In essence, this game requires you to spend an outrageous amount of money to unlock high-tier vehicles. If you want to spend the money and "buy your way" to the more modern vehicles, get ready to spend multiple thousands of dollars.

If you decided that you want to play this game with your time, then get ready to spend about 1000 - 1500 hours to unlock a single nation sub-tree.

For example, if you like Leopard 2A6 or 2A5 Tanks, get ready to spend 1000 - 1500 hours to get from rank 1 to Rank 7 where modern Leopards reside. If you like Germany Tornado Jet then get ready to spend another 1000 - 1500 hours to unlock Germany Air units separately. There are 9 nations and each nation has many trees (AIR, Ground, Naval, Helicopter, etc.). All of this is considering you are above average player. If you cannot get positive K/D then do not play this game at all.

So far I have played this game for an estimated time of about 1200 hours over the past 10 years. I have about 600 hours on Steam and 600 hours before they added it to Steam. I only managed to unlock most of the tech trees for Germany, US Air units, and some USSR air units with spending a decent amount of money. The other nations I haven't touched. I love some vehicles from other nations but to me they are unreachable.

So in conclusion, this game as it stands lacks in economics and does not take into account the realistic time of the gamers or average Joe. I am not quite sure who their benchmark is but people do other things besides playing hours and hours every day. I mean those very gamers need to work to give Gaijin money but with the current system, they do not allow that either. Gaijin is shooting themselves in the foot. they need to redo the whole game economy.

Unfortunately passed the first few campaign missions, the game becomes way too chaotic to enjoy. AI attack powers stack on top of each other too frequently to enjoy any racing. The devs haven't done a good job on that regard.

Fun game with good graphics and sound effects that makes me chuckle often. Seeing marshmallow soldiers throwing each other in the air never gets old. Developer is working hard and adding new features often. Can't wait to play with Persia!
