Pleasantly surprised by how good the demo was, which is funny since it's more surprising that we got a public demo to begin with. I was concerned about Bubsy feeling stilted from the gameplay footage, but he honestly feels amazing to control and is very well animated. It doesn't take long for you to get used to his controls. He's definitely a mix between Sonic and Mario, but the quirks in his moveset I feel were enough to differentiate him from the others.

The level design is pretty good. I enjoyed exploring the different parts of each level looking for wool. Some parts can feel a bit like an asset pile, but it's not as bad as I was expecting it to be. I think the main thing I got hung up about was the collision in some parts. Parts where the path and ground meet can sometimes be enough to stop Bubsy in his tracks when walking onto it from the side, which I thought was kinda weird. There was also just some weird camera bugging in level three where bouncing as the furball would briefly send the camera underneath the fleece during the bridge sections (happened during the blue fleece wheels specifically for me). I certainly wouldn't call the levels underbaked, far from it. Maybe some work could be done to make the levels look a little more natural. Levels like the ones in Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 would be a great example, where they're still linear, but they still use a lot of the world/ world building to their advantage.

Hard to complain about the other stuff. The visuals are super pretty, especially with the cell shading (albeit the cars in level 3 kinda bugged out when you got near them I think). The music was great and somehow fits the vibe of a middle-aged Bubsy game perfectly lol. I think it's a little jarring to see certain internet slang used in the game, but the comedy and dialog over is pretty top notch. Animation and attention to detail is frankly top notch and one of my favorite parts. The fact that it's going for this space exploration, almost Super Mario Galaxy/A Hat In Time like progression is super fun and very well timed (This game is gonna make the SMG1+2 $70 rerelease look like a joke). Everything else is really just going about as smoothly as one would hope.

As for anything suggestions, maybe some extra camera controls. You could have the D-pad act as a way to quickly pan left and right and zoom in and out like in Super Mario 64. They might not get used as often as normal camera controls, but that's why they'd just get set to the D-pad instead. I think a faster and more intuitive rollout after you pounce onto the ground would also be nice. It's not mandatory or anything. I got used to the controls just fine, but something like a fast rollout to help boost speed in other ways would just make the game a lot more fun and engaging in my opinion, even if it isn't the fastest route possible. A classic mode where you die in one hit could also be funny, or just a hard mode in general would be awesome. Then again, you guys probably have some ♥♥♥♥ planned for players that we're not expecting.

I think that's about it. Normally I don't bother with reviews, but I want to take the opportunity to help with feedback for this game. This game has no right being as good as it is, but god do we desperately need something like this right now in the gaming landscape. Keep it up, and please make this game good. Having a franchise like Bubsy find a way to ♥♥♥♥ on Nintendo for selling games at $80, directly or indirectly, would make my day.

Hard to have fun in this game anymore. There's too many bots, and the new content is mediocre at best. This game is so heavily neglected, and I'm not sure if I want to stick around for much longer.
