Originally hooked into gaming by Microprose flight sims and Sierra Adventure Games as a child, my favorite genres include strategy, military sims, FPS, Sci-Fi (not fantasy), some horror, anything historical or with an interesting story/characters plus I am open to trying anything that's original and engaging.

UPDATE: This list is a bit of a mess, but essentially as I get older and time gets more limited, I realize that I basically like playing two different kids of games: Sci-fi (space, aliens, first contact or apocalyptic / dystopian future) and historical (War World II, Ancient and Medieval) in two different genres: FPS and strategy (both RTS and turn-based). I mostly like single-player, I only really like Multiplayer in a few games like HLL and SD2.

I hate grindy crafting games where you waste half a day cutting down trees and digging up stones. Except Don't Starve, that one is good.
