Played the original and quite enjoyed it. However, this version outshines it tenfold.
It feels like this was the version they wanted to release originally, and it shows.

Highly recommend.

A great game that definitely gives shmup fans a lot to sink their teeth into. And with a steady flow of DLC there's even more replayability. Highly recommended.

I rarely write reviews for games. I rarely play games with visual novel elements. I don't know if it's the pixel anime art style that gets me or that I am a sucker for cyberpunk media but I have been quite engrossed in this game. I found out about this game through itch.io where it was available for pre-order for 5 bucks. After the demo I eagerly awaited for the full release. I enjoy the PC-98 look of the UI and also enjoy how the dialogue and options are determined by the drinks you make rather than a dialogue option (I'm sure there are VNs with a similar mechanic but I have yet to find them).

Each character has quite a lot to say, but it's written in a way where I don't just try and rapidly click through all the dialogue. A few typos here and there, but nothing that hinders the experience. I'm only on Chapter 2 so far, but I am enjoying the experience so far. One of the most enterntaining indie titles I've played in quite a while.

The follow up to the excellent Hotline Miami. This time you take the role of multiple characters each with unique gameplay styles. While it may be a little daunting storywise due to the amount of characters that are in the story, it still holds a solid narrative to the bitter end. Levels are much longer, varied and much more difficult, but I believe that challenge is a good thing since it can keep you playing again and again. If you thought the first game had an amazing soundtrack than prepare for another dose of the most heart-pounding, neon-soaked adrenaline rush beats in the game industry. I personally think the soundtrack complete outshines the original's OST. My only gripe with the game is with the story, I feel like there was little bit more room to develop certain characters more.

Overall, a solid sequel to an already solid game.

The big ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of all indie games, an excellent title that excels in quick fast-paced combo based gameplay. The extra perks you get from the masks give interesting enhancements to the game, and the story is a bizarre narrative that leaves a lot questions unanswered. Definitely, one of my favorite games of all time.

Great port. Great game. Highly recommended for those who yearn for the old school RE gameplay from yesteryear. The only issue so far is that in some cases, I'll get a huge slow down spike near entrances of doors, but it's very minor. Other than that, it is worth $20 especially with the modding community already in full swing.
