Bionic Booster Pack focuses less on adding world-bending new content/biomes and more on adding things that recontextualize how you interact with existing content. The bionic dupes by themselves shake up the game a lot and introduce a lot of different ways to go about the game, especially with spaced out, due to their unique way of breathing & levelling and their reliance on solid power infastructure over keeping plants happy.

Also this DLC adds the little flying drones from factorio.

Pretty worth!

This killed my playthrough like 5 times and caused like genuine month long gaps between each play session

Rain world fills my i-grew-up-on-survival-games heart with such glee. It's a really great experience that does well at providing a fun challenge, both in terms of survival & general casual platforming, while still being an incredibly believable ecosystem filled with life that feels genuinely real. Buy the DLC, its 100% worth it, too!!

Though I enjoy it a lot, it isn't without its flaws, the game is incredibly unforgiving at times and the way that the "Karma" system works is directly aggressive towards players that are struggling. Aside from a few unique cases, you largely rack up karma by surviving a day and moving onto the next, and you lose karma by dying. Then there exists gates that require a certain amount of karma to be passed. This means that if one is struggling at a specific part of the game, they may have to sit in a given area and grind out a few days-survived-points before attempting to proceed. This kind of sucks. Even if it does definitely feel good to surpass such things with careful play, such a system is simply put, counter-intuitive to a good gameplay experience.

Still, I think the game is pretty great in spite of this! I recommend it a lot. Two thumbs up. I continuously consider acquiring a slugcat plush.

A marked improvement from the first game, I really love the time I've spent with this game. The atmosphere is better, the environments are more interesting, and the game still certainly presents a challenge even if you've been through the wringer with the first one.

A personal compliment I can give is that I'm over the moon with regards to the choice of vehicles the game affords you in comparison to what came before it. In my opinion, I really... don't understand why many people seem to enjoy the Cyclops so much in the first game. It's too safe, too big, it makes you feel far too protected compared to what the rest of the game goes for and the rest of the atmosphere desperately builds towards. And yet, it feels absolutely terrible to control. Its just not a fun time, and if I could, I would entirely skip out on crafting it in favor of simply sticking with the prawn suit/seamoth combo.

Instead, below zero affords you a sort of combination seamoth-cyclops in the form of the seatruck, which is a light-ish vehicle that doesn't feel too shabby to control, only allows a singular hit from leviathans before you're on deaths door, and can have modules installed for the sake of taking prawn suits places and having fabricators and the like. The player experience is simply better with this vehicle compared to its half-predecessor. If I could, I would happily take a mod that just put the seatruck in over the cyclops/seamoth, but no such thing exists yet, sadly.

the low point is the bosses but they're still fun

the common sonic comparison is apt, pizza tower improves on the usual 2d sonic by making it so like you don't have to memorize the level to still go pretty fast
this is a massive improvement

its a really nice game
