My steam play time doesn't match up with how much I've actually played. I completed the game and uhh..

...it's pretty good

Journal is a game that can't be fully explained with words on a review page. It is a game that's better to experience for yourself. Just to be sure that someone wanting to buy the game is reading this, I will include no spoilers whatsoever.

The summary of the game states: "Enter the pages of the hand painted world of Journal. A journey through the life of a young and troubled girl as she tries to face up to the choices and responsibilities that come with childhood. An experience that questions the reliability of how we choose to remember events and explores the truths hidden within our dreams.

Journal is a narrative driven adventure game by Richard Perrin, the creator of Kairo and the white chamber, with art and writing by Melissa Royall."

Well, it certainly is everything stated right there. This game is something that hits hard with reality. It doesn't put anything unrealistic or stupid in it, but rather truthful and depressing subjects that hit hard with many who play it.

The story, the ending and the characters are all brilliant! The only thing holding this game back (Which lots of people have mentioned already) are the slippery controls. You know every ice level EVER on a platform game? Where you're sliding all over the place and the controls are so sensitive? That's this game for the entire thing. But after about an hour into the game, I stopped paying attention to the slippery controls and fell in love with the story. Another con would also be that the games too short for a $10 game on Steam. I got this on sale for $1.39 and it was a bloody bargain.

If you, the reader, aren't aware of my rating system it goes like this.

BURN IT! (1-2/10)
Refund it politely then wonder why you ever played this game (3-4/10)
Buy it if it's on sale (5-6/10)
Buy it anytime and complete it (7-8)
BUY IT THEN REPLAY IT OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN! (9-10/10)

So, this game is totally worth buying and it only take 3 hours to complete, but I think you should probably get it on a sale. This game also has a secret ending so, there's more for you.

I rate this game 6.5 depressed children out of 10.
